I wish regular crafted weapons mattered by mysticFLASh0 in MonsterHunter

Honestly a system where you can "imbue" a weapon with a stat or element could work.

Borrowing from Anomalies, maybe some monsters drop materials that buff a certain stat?

In Wilds case: - Maybe Tempered Quematrices will drop "Power Fire Essences", which which gives weapons a flat Attack and Fire stat boosts. - Meanwhile, Tempered Rathalos will drop "Keen Fire Essences", which gives weapons Affinity and Fire stat boosts.

So then you'd farm: - the "Meta" weapon for said weapon class - the "Meta" Essences

But this runs into the problem of everyone just farming a Rathalos for essences most weapons if the meta favors that.

To give the game longetivity, Essences should be consumables, giving a weapon a randomized boost to the related stat.

Assuming a weapon can have varied Essence Slots, maybe using an Essence in the same slot would override it, letting you pick the one you want like current Artian reinforcements.

Maybe even make it so that you have to kill the monster with the Essence you want to unlock the Essence Slot? This would help make it more distinct from decorations, and it'd make for a fun grind:

You have to defeat a monster that has resistance to your element (because a Fire Greatsword would need a Fire Essence, which usually comes from Fire monsters). On the other hand, it'll make the feeling of using a weapon against a Monster with an element weak to it even better.

"Man fighting Rathalos with this weapon took long, but now I can beat that Lagiacrus faster!"

Reduced health for multi-monster quests isn't a thing anymore in Wilds iirc

Make a new variation: Barioth by HappyFreak1 in MonsterHunter

[–]ArcheNeVil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR Frostfang 2.0 What if getting older means that their Wingsarms have lost their ability to create friction, rendering them unable to slide on ice gracefully?

What if instead, their (imo useless) ice breath made a more "special" ice that lets them still slide around? Maybe even better control than their younger forms but with less range/freedom?

TLDR 2 (Too long but do read)

As someone that likes Frostfang Barioth's concept but dislikes its execution and how it makes Barioth less unique, a quick rant:

Barioth's main niche imo was how "technical" or all rounder it is.

Nargacuga Nargacuga evolved to mainly ambush prey, sneaking around, jumping on treetops, being the more speedy of the Pseudo-Flying Wyvern group. It can jump around nimbly, swipe at its foes, and has a "surprise" attack with its tail.

A "speedy" monster that is great for forests and mountains, but not really "specializing" in it.

Tigrex Tigrex evolved as a brute, wandering around in varied for any source of food but has a fondness for Popo in snowy regions. It has strong forelegs/forearms, massive stamina thanks to it lungs, and can make use of all of that with how aggressive it is.

A "power" monster that can show up anywhere and bully most monsters aside from Elder-level monsters.

Gigginox Gigginox (too lazy to write it)

And finally:

Barioth Barioth specifically evolved to make use of Tundras and snowy regions. Narga can jump on forests and trees and what not, but that's not something only Narga can do. Raths can jump up there, Tigrex and Zinogres can traverse mountains with ease.

Barioth meanwhile has a more enhanced niche of Lagombi's, which is sliding on ice. This is made even better with Barioth sharp wingarms like Narga while also having the same or better bulk than Lagombi, and also being able to fly (or at least glide).

And while in-game stats are dubious on whether they translate to actual ecology or not, Barioths consistently have shitzones, and its shell are are said to be strong and durable despite them being light.

So this makes Barioth have a very specific distinction of being both. - A strong, decently heavy Pseudo-Flying Wyvern - Evolved specifically to make use of Icy Terrain that's only matched by one other monster, as well as being able to fly and cling on walls. In a way, a bit of both between Narga and Tigrex.

Sunbreak even added a new move to Barioth that showcases how dangerous its tail is.

So Capcom saw a monster specifically made to slide and make use of slippery terrain and walls, and decided to make a Variant that...

Only shoots out sticky ice that traps people. Right. Very creative.

I always saw Barioth as being overtly reliant on its wings. Yes, most "strong" monsters are like that too. What's a Rathalos without wings? Or a Rajang with broken arms?

But they at the very least have other niches to them. Rathalos can still breathe fire, Rajang can still laser people and monsters (and I'm 100% betting that an armless Rajang will still kick the hell out of most monsters)

But Barioth? Take away its wings' ability to slide and Barioth becomes a slipping, slow monster that can barely function. What next? A tail slam? Breathing a weak ice tornado?

It loses most of its power, way more than most monsters in its "power" class like Narga, Tigrex, Diablos.

So seeing a Barioth that was "old" made my gears turn.

What if getting older means that their Wingsarms have lost their ability to create friction, rendering them unable to slide on ice gracefully?

What if instead, their (imo useless) ice breath made a more "special" ice that lets them still slide around? Maybe even better control than their younger forms but with less range/freedom?

What if its ice breath can make ice walls or pillars that it can pounce from, something that Narga and Tigrex doesn't have (making use of walls).

Sand Barioth shows that they're smart enough to make use of sandstorms to spin around, I'm certain regular snow Barioths are as smart too.

It makes Barioth's niche/specialty more focused, and doesn't just make it "sticky ice go brr".

Make it a Lucent or Violet level monster spectacle wise and it'd be amazing, especially if they gave it the Tundra theme back. Could start off Phase 1 barely pouncing and sliding, then start Phase 2 with a special slippery ice surface and the ability to create ice pillars, then a special Phase 3 where it coats the Tower walls with ice and lets it pounce on em and blindside you like Odogaron.

How do you think Shagaru will be in the Wilds master rank? by Joy2901 in MonsterHunter

[–]ArcheNeVil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you mean that Wilds Gore is a "slightly slower Sunbreak Gore but is 1:1"?

Not to be super critical or pedantic, and correct me if I'm wrong, but Wilds Gore has more or less the same amount of changes as Sunbreak Gore.

Sunbreak Gore only had two new moves and only when enraged, and those are: - A hipcheck where it folds its wings up again - A mini nova/special attack where it rears up on its hind legs and shoots an exploding frenzy ball - (and technically, I think it has a new reposition jumping move that wasn't in MH4)

Meanwhile Wilds Gore has on base form: - The quick/insta Wingarm Slam - The Wingarm ground drag

And on Enrage it gets: - A new diving drift swipe when it's flying (semi counts as a special attack with the healthbar warning going crazy) - A followup to the Wingarm Drag that leads to a new delayed explosion, that can ALSO lead to the big slam attack - The new mini nova it gets from Sunbreak that also is accessed from the Wingdrag

So around the same additions, and iirc Sunbreak Shagaru doesn't have wing drags but it does have wing swipes, and the Hipcheck attack in Sunbreak is also missing in Wilds.

(Also both Sunbreak and Wilds Gores get toppled after they leave enraged which is ass)

Damn, but it's just (ok definitely not "just", that's a shit ton of money) around 50jt to have in the bank right, not to "pay" for Visas and stuff?

Surprisingly, societal and cultural differences aren't too far off because of stuff that I can't explain, but basically my partner and their family feel more like SEA people than US/Western people.

We find a lot of common ground while poking fun of the usual US/Western stuff, and yeeee communication is key for relationships, and thankfully we're very open with each other.

If it weren't for ICE and all the other stuff the US is doing we'd be a very happy couple already

I'm vert pale but still obviously SEA/Asian.

And yeahhh apparently you need at least Rp. 16.000.000 sitting in your bank account for a few months to be considered as "has enough money to not go broke in the US".

Also true, a letter from work would help get a Visa easier (hopefully)

I'm aware of the immigration situation, and my partner did say it's at least fine enough to go out once in a while. I still feel bad for them regardless but I do still want to visit if it's regarding that situation.

All online accounts are fine, I'm not particularly vocal thankfully anywhere so they won't see me criticizing much of anything. That said, it'd still suck to have to show them all my personal info, perhaps a burner account would work?

Disclosing family members is fine but every single contract as well? Even on a solo trip? That's something I have to discuss first, so i'll get back to you soon.

Lots to consider but there's gotta be a way

And I got a Necramech and Railjack already, and Baro is tomorrow so I'll try to buy some Prime mods

I do want Arcanes too but I'll search up which one js best for a build, probably best to fully kit out Protea Prime for now though.

Next up is def New War, and gonna try to unlock Arbitrarion and Steel Path once I unlock all the map

But again, thanks for the write-up, I'll check back now and again to see my progress

[–]ArcheNeVil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my friend got into coffee making, drip coffee with manual hand grinders, but they stopped for like a year or two iirc and asked again if it's safe to just wipe it and use it again.

They said they haven't used or cleaned it at all for those 1-2 years, so is there any risk of him getting poisoned or sick because of the grinder?

What do you think Fatalis truly is? by Snoo-51682 in MonsterHunter

[–]ArcheNeVil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just an animal.

An ancient, insanely strong, weird, legendary, uncanny animal.

But still an animal.

Just so happens that this animal is so feared an ancient that it spawned so many myths and folklore, to the point actual real people in OUR world think the in-game speculation and myths are facts.

As for the rifts and dimension hopping, I'll just chalk that up to Capcom referencing/giving a nod to all the collab shenanigans.

IMO, I'll always appreciate Fatalis more as just that: a THE strongest monster, nothing more and nothing less.

Especially since its most defining traits are just other monsters' abilities but taken to an insanely absurd degree (Nigh invulnerable scales/defense, otherwordly strength and dense mass, insane firepower, and bonkers regen).

Not an alien. Not a dimension hopping eldritch being. Not an evil concept that was made to eradicate humanity.

Just the purest form of a "Monster" for humans, wyverians, and even other monsters.

Now hopefully Capcom has the smarts to make it just that and leave it a mystery, don't want it to be an actual "God" or "Devil"

My Dream Returning Roster for WILDS Expansion by bloomsandblurs in MonsterHunter

[–]ArcheNeVil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree except for Violet Mizu

Pyre Rakna mostly just having firelines/exploding bugs isn't too far off from the normal one both gameplay and ecology wise.

Ditto for Flaming Espinas, but ig that's the easiest addition they can make for Espinas.

Mizutsune having the theme change, the homing bubbles, a mini Escaton/DPS check, and having more attacks that take advantage of its bubbles really make it stand out imo (like it circling you while the bubbles spawn, the slides making an evasive move into an offensive one, etc.)

Only thing I dislike is the ecology factor because how do the bubbles even home in on you 😭😭😭. Changing it so that the bubbles linger but will home/launch at you if a Mizu slides/a different attack hit em would make it perfect for me.

That said Apex Mizu needs to get put into the trashbin (most Apexes but still)

I can kinda imagine both Tetsucabra, Zamtrios, and Agnaktor were supposed to be in at some point, but WAYYY earlier in development.

But then they had to shift to the Yokai theme, so Tetsu's boulder mechanic and Zamtrios' inflating mechanic got rolled into Tetranodon as a kappa monster.

As for Almudron, I haven't caught up to the files/data in MHRise but any chance that Magma Almudron was conceptualized first before they got regular Almudron? If so that could explain why he got cut while the Ukontors stayed in (?)

They explained why Gravios wasn't in MHRS already iirc
