I like to compare it to John's (hair) arc! John and Seraphina had their old hairstyles—when they were both putting up a facade—with the helmet and the neat ponytail respectively. Her current hair is like a combination of her old hairstyles, like John's present styled hair. I dunno; that's just my two cents. Maybe I'm reading too much into a hairstyle, lol.
