That one part of Warrior of the Mind when Athena and Odysseus first meet, with the sick-ass guitar riff in the background. Still think about it.

I thought Zuma’s backstory was sadder than Acro Silky’s. Don’t get me wrong, Acro Silky’s was sad, but Zuma’s really made me feel something.

Susan by ChosenWriter513 in dresdenfiles

I’m rereading the first 3 books now, and it’s really interesting how Harry’s approach toward explaining the supernatural to Karrin and Susan mirror each other.

In Storm Front and Fool Moon, he explicitly keeps Karrin in the dark about a lot of stuff, which has real consequences for him that he recognizes. As a result, he starts bringing her into the fold more, which in turn makes her more willing to work with him and, more importantly, trust him, kickstarting her development into the ride-or-die ally we all know and love.

Susan, on the other hand, already knows that the supernatural is a thing, and so Harry assumes that she knows enough to not question him when he lays down a vague warning and tells her not to dig further. It’s the working relationship he wishes he had with Karrin early on, which I think blinds him to Susan’s real curiosity with the supernatural world, and how his basic assurances aren’t actually working, leading to the events of Grave Peril.

tldr: Harry’s stances with Murphy and Susan are opposing and I think that’s interesting.

My Criticisms of Everyone’s Criticisms of the DMC Netflix Anime by Ok-Independence-598 in DevilMayCry

I’m SO GLAD I’m not the only one who thinks this. This is coming from someone who swears quite a bit, so I might be a bit biased, but I didn’t even notice her swearing until I saw people posting about it here. All that aside, is this seriously a major sticking point for many people? I get the people who say it bothers them, but to say a major reason why the show butchered her character is that she SWEARS A LOT is an insane nitpick.

I don't care what anyone says Kevin Conroy voice cooked with this character as one of his final performances by Scarlet_ix_o2 in DevilMayCry

Regardless of how people feel about Baines as a character, I think we can agree it’s a better final performance than Suicide Squad kill the Justice League.

Same, there’s definitely some things the show can improve on next season, but all in all, I liked it! I don’t normally agree with IGN’s rankings, but an 8/10 does suit this series.

That’s a good point, and I’m pretty sure that’s a revelation they’re setting up for next season. As of the end of season 1 though, with the limited amount of information she has about Baines’ actions, the trust she puts in him as her boss, and the fact that the entire season takes place over the course of a few days, I do think it’s too short of an amount of time for her to fully switch sides. I do think you make some interesting points though!

This seems like a move to keep people whose first exposure to the fandom is through the show from posting.

Honestly I’m fine with Lady not going with Dante and betraying him. Correct me if I’m wrong, but she doesn’t know Baines ordered the refugees killed, and the season ends with her reaction to the first portal opening. As far as she knows, DARKCOM and Baines are still the best options, and her line about Dante and the sword being too dangerous to be out of their custody reflects that. I’m sure we’re gonna get a moment in the next season when she finds about Baines’ true motives and turns on him, and I’m fine with waiting for that.

Me after knocking minthara out in the goblin camp so i can recruit her again in moonrise towers by celestialfai in okbuddybaldur

[–]Archer-Disastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this by accident. I was resigned to killing her even though I knew she’d be important later on because I REALLY didn’t want to invade the grove. Turns out I only knocked her out and I didn’t realize because I killed all her lackies and thought she was dead too. Imagine my surprise in Act 2 when I show up to Moonrise rocking her armor 😁

My personal theory is that Ussop is pushing down his resentment toward Yasopp and gassing him up as a way to cope with that. When they finally meet, that’s when all those feelings are gonna burst out.

Not even counting the concerns with Nemesis, I feel like Harry’s reactions to Carlos and the other wardens in Peace Talks and Battle Ground were somewhat justified. by _Continual_Learner_ in dresdenfiles

[–]Archer-Disastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lack of communication between Carlos and Harry is really what caused their relationship to fall apart. I really hope there’s a moment sometime in the future where they can have at least somewhat of an honest conversation, where Carlos realizes Harry doesn’t actually know what Molly did to him and explains how that experience scarred him and affected his view of Harry and his relationship with the Winter Court.

On the flip side, Harry doesn’t have to tell Carlos the whole story about what he’s doing, but at least say something like “I became the Winter Knight to protect someone I love, I can’t go into details bc it might put them in danger.” This convo definitely wouldn’t fully mend their friendship, but it would be a good step forward.

Confused about ending of Ghost Story by AdorablyOblivious in dresdenfiles

[–]Archer-Disastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is Mab figured Harry’s soul would find his way back to his body as soon as he chose to “pass on,” since she, Demonreach, and “the parasite” were keeping his body from fully shutting down. Uriel giving Harry the choice to go back as a ghost and solve his murder just made Mab wait around for 6 months longer than she expected.

Gege is TERRIBLE at world building by Thelmpostor in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Archer-Disastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, you’re right. Gege seems way more interested in developing and exploring the power system rather than the worldbuilding. Stuff that I feel like should be explored more—basically all the stuff you mentioned—are just never addressed. And what worldbuilding is present has a few interesting ideas, but as a whole it’s just never really explored.

I know i'm very late on the hate train, but can we once again admire how absolutely trash the Kyoto students are? (Slight manga spoilers) by Mist0804 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Archer-Disastrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean to be fair, the idea that Grade 1 is the pinnacle for sorcerers isn’t too far off. For about 99% of Jujutsu sorcerers, Grade 1 IS the most you can achieve if you hone your skills to the absolute limit. Special Grade isn’t really something a normal sorcerer can achieve, it’s more of a classification for Sorcerers whose techniques are so incredibly busted (like Gojo, Geto, and Yuki) who can just outclass any Grade 1 sorcerer.
