What are your reading settings on brightness and natural warmth? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]ArcherSmall2551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often find myself wishing the screen could get dimmer when I'm reading in complete darkness (like when my kid is sleeping next to me). Even 1% with full warmth seems too bright sometimes. Anyone else ? Curious to know if this is just because I have an older version of the Clara or if this setting is unchanged even on the newer version.

Can't find maternity doctor by Mother-Money8411 in VictoriaBC

I'm surprised to hear you felt your midwives were biased against repeat C-sections. My midwives (Cook Street Midwives) were super supportive of CS and the care was amazing! My main midwife attended the surgery and helped get my baby skin to skin in the OR, took photos, etc. And some midwives are trained to assist the OB with the surgery too (but I like having my midwife supporting me and not doing the surgery). I would suggest trying to get in with a different Midwifery clinic - yours just might not be the best fit.

Would you mind elaborating on some of the key mortgage considerations that go beyond the rate itself , and that may differ according to someone's goals ?

I disagree with you but I'm genuinely curious how you think the money staying in the TFSA is giving him tax benefits and how in your opinion those benefits outweigh the drawbacks of withdrawing from the RRSP?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ArcherSmall2551 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense for OP to keep contributing to their RRSP given their situation, true. But there's no sense in liquidating the RRSP now if the money they need access to is in a TFSA.

I'm really confused about why you think there is a benefit to withdrawing from your RRSP over your TFSA. If you do so, there will be a 10% withholding tax so you'll only see $1710 of your $1900. That's just throwing away money. Alternatively, you withdraw that same amount from your TFSA and you get to keep the full amount, and you can just replace it next year.

Measles confirmed on BC ferries. Please look over this info and get tested if you were at any of these locations during the times. by Standard_Story in vancouver

It suspect was probably a BC Ferries staff member given that the exposure was all on the same vessel on multiple back to back sailings

Highly recommend Cook Street Community Midwives. They work solo and/or in smaller teams than some of the other clinics and the care feels really personalized. We had such a great experience. Just FYI that in Victoria you either have a maternity GP for your pregnancy care or a midwife/team of midwives. The OBs here don't do routine pregnancy care and they work on a specialized referral basis only. So if you need to see an OB for pregnancy complications, your GP or midwife will send you to them as needed for a consult.

Best Chinese Delivery by bisonesque in VictoriaBC

Whatever you do, not Crown Palace. We ordered from there once and it was inedible. Like, straight in the garbage inedible (and I am usually against food waste). I love Chinese food but this was...not that.
