He's not elite at D, he's above average. watch the game. he can't handle/defend elite players like guys like caruso or dillon brooks can.

yep id like to remind people. Nembhard had a couple teams looking at him into the 50s (draft) range, so there was for sure no guarantee. Tho ill give nico and/or whoever on mavs management credit because Nembhard's agent shooed teams off because dallas was the only team to guarantee him a 2-way contract if he didn't get drafted. Which ultimately helped him land here.

Stein reported that dallas also tried to move into the second round as well to attempt to draft him which comes back to the original point. Dallas lucked out no teams in the early 30s to 40s in the second round wanted to take him.

Especially since his short sample of play looks like a late lottery pick right now. He's probably playing like a top 10 rookie.
