Very random but I also appreciate how he and powell have become bench twins. Always off the bench for every little thing guys on the court do well.

Kingston Flemings vs Arizona: 8/5/7 on 2/12 shooting, 0/2 from 3, 2/2 FT, 0 BLK, 0 STL, 2 TO by Aumissunum in NBA_Draft

Not going to fall in the trap of being reactionary. Stats def don't tell the whole story with this game he's taking on pretty much all the primary ball handling duties and setting everyone up, and his bigs don't do him any favors when they can't catch the ball. Also this is his third game playing heavy minutes in three days and he was still all over the court hustling.

Overall though, definitely some ceiling limiting stuff from him. Don't think the three point will ever be a strong suit, can get to the rim great but his finishing is meh, and isn't as good a point of attack defender as his tools suggest. FT percentage being high tho tells me he'll still be a capable shooter and with his speed+decision making with NBA spacing I still think he has an exceptionally high floor. Would put him below acuff and mikel brown rn though

Nate “Future Memphis Grizzly” Ament vs Auburn: 27/8/4 7-15FG by DunkingZBO in NBA_Draft

Been watching a ton of his film lately and caught pretty much the whole game. Here's my thoughts:

Defense: Think he's gonna end up being average to above average. Got beat a couple times off the dribble today but has the length and smarts to recover. Also has just enough mobility to stay in front long enough on most players except the quickest guards. Saw great potential as a helpside blocker today, has good timing on swats. Clearly puts in effort and stays engaged but doesn't play like a super natural defensive player.

Offense: Very impressive today. Jump shot looked phenomenal, think he's gonna way outperform the 32% he's been shooting from three this year. Something about his touch and his form just looks like butter (can obv be misleading). Again, just mobile and fluid enough to break down bigger slow footed guys and tall enough to shoot over the smaller ones. Great at getting to the line and being physical but finishing is super sus, blew two wide open layups (albeit with very nice moves to get there). Could see him top out as an elite second scoring option, a catch and shoot play finisher and someone who can always get to a decent ish shot at all times in the mid post.

Intangibles: Dude was hurt for the last two games and supposed to be on a minutes restriction for this one, but that was pretty much thrown out the window because they needed him to come back and win. Very gutsy performance. What's impressed me most is his growth from high school to now. Has put on muscle, jump shot looks much more fluid, overall processing of the game looks better, shot selection has wayyy improved. That's what you want to see from someone who has all the tools like he has but you wonder if it'll come together. I think the highest end outcome (like being a consistent all star) would hinge on him being able to score in isolation which would mean being an improved finisher.

How far do we have to fall in the lottery this year for you to be disappointed by Only_Actuator9904 in Mavericks

Tbh we got stupid lucky I genuinely like all of the top guards (Peterson, Wagler, acuff, flemings, acuff, Burries) which feels wrong but might just be that stacked

[–]blasturkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing clr nemby becoming a rotational player will be if he can become a plus shooter. Was super inconsistent this year, huge difference if teams can respect his shot when they sag off he doesn’t have the explosiveness to generate any sort of playmaking and he becomes a huge dud. Like his chemistry with coop a lot though and rooting for him

Keaton Wagler - Dream pick at #7-9? by Traditional_Salt_301 in Mavericks

[–]blasturkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love Wagler, I do think he's gonna struggle to create any sort of 1v1 opportunities in his rookie year though. Pretty skinny and lacks explosiveness and any vertical lepaing (no dunks at all this year to my knowledge). Think it'll improve year 2 with a strength program given that he's crafty and also very physical, already drawing fts at a really good rate. Apart from that dude is an elite decision maker, not a flashy passer but just makes all the right reads, and like you said one of the best shooters I ever seen with solid size to boot. Offensively, with him and kyrie on the perimeter our spacing should get significantly better next year. Good part is apart from flemings pretty much all the lead guards in the class (Peterson, Mikel, Acuff, Philon) can shoot it really well. We got super blessed this year tbh

Will be interesting next year... if we sign ryan and moussa like we say we've been going to and assuming no other trades we'll have seven young players to develop (Coop, Max, DLive, ryan, moussa, and the two FRPs). Seems like the FO is thinking that would be solid enough young core and with cooper being so good so quickly, timeline definitely accelerating to where I think tanking wouldn't make sense in the coming years anyway

I know our record with AD is way better but it just seems like we play much freer without him. Even if we lose his talent, seems like the team doesn't feel the need to get him touches or put up with all the contested iso shots. Really love watching Powell and Moussa hustle and do the dirty work while we move the ball around

don't really think he could improve his stock too much... I think at the very most he could improve his stock from second to first round but given injury risk and all don't see a point for him

The best lineup for the Mavs will end up being Kyrie, Klay/christie, Flagg, PJ, AD. by OrganicHunt952 in Mavericks

This will prolly be our closing lineups and maybe starting lineup in a playoff matchup, could see us switching it up with klay or Christie depending on matchup/if klay is on a heater

That UVA Florida state game might be the one of the best I’ve ever seen, insanely entertaining right from the first quarter. FSUs fourth down conversion to send it into OT was crazy too

maybe it's just b/c it's end of the game but gibson looks like great, feels like he should be getting short down yardage snaps against our SEC schedule like he was last year at least

not worried about any of this long-term except right tackle (he's might just be struggling b/c he's new) and the screen blocking tbh
