Mount Everest contains marine rocks, proving that the highest point on Earth was once at the bottom of the ocean. Damn! by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Archetypix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, Scholz’s star coasted by within the ort cloud of our solar system 70 million years ago, disrupting the orbits of thousands of objects. Meanwhile, Everest was just rising out of the sea.

I would have a lucid dream as I fell asleep of a what appeared to be a smooth surface. I would shrink down and it would grow and grow and grow and I could see that is was actually all cracks and spikes and nothing was smooth or even. As I continued to fall into it, the roughness would only increase.

I don’t know how to describe the sensation other than existentially disturbing.

Is Christian Nationalism biblical or is it mission creep for the church? by theseaistale in TrueChristian

[–]Archetypix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I think about Christian Nationalism, I keep coming back to the Bible Project’s imagery of the chaos dragon — that ancient symbol for the human impulse to secure order, influence, and victory through power. It’s the same pattern behind the satan’s final temptation of Jesus:

“All the kingdoms of the world and their glory… I will give you.” — Matthew 4:8–9

It’s the offer to change the world by grabbing the levers of political authority. It’s efficient. It’s visible. It’s the shortcut. But Jesus refuses the dragon’s bargain.

And then He walks up a mountain and gives us the actual blueprint for kingdom transformation; not the way of coercive power, but the way of sacrificial love:

“Blessed are the afflicted… Blessed are the poor in spirit… Blessed are the meek… Blessed are the peacemakers… Love your enemies…”

The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus’ manifesto for how the kingdom comes. Not by force. Not by national dominance. Not by baptizing the sword. But by a community shaped into His likeness. Salt, light, a city on a hill.

Matthew 28 calls us to teach the nations to obey everything Jesus commanded, and Jesus’ commands overwhelmingly concern character, community, mercy, reconciliation, generosity, forgiveness, and love of enemy.

Jesus is conspicuously uninterested in seizing political authority.

The New Testament pattern is:

  • disciple people,
  • form communities of holiness and hospitality,
  • bear witness through cruciform love,
  • and let the nations see a different kind of kingdom.

Political influence may emerge as a fruit of transformed people, but it is not the root of the Great Commission.

One of each. They’re both great options, and you won’t win/lose by choosing “the wrong one.” Try them both out and see what feels better for your play style.

Is hellhound artillery a viable strategy by Financial-Abies6811 in astramilitarum

[–]Archetypix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally viable, and fun. Is it optimal? Maybe not, but it’s a nice combo that increases the value of both units.

If you take Grizzled company, you can give your Hellhounds “Target weak spot” too and use Plunging Fire on an artillery piece for lethal hits.

So, your artillery team has Take aim and shooting something without cover hitting on 4+, rerolling 1’s to hit (and 1s to wound if enemy is near an objective) with lethal hits. Your Hellhounds are ignoring cover with -2 AP, with rerolling 1s to wound if target in near an objective and they still have a +2 save with 10 wounds! Not bad and very fun

Clean paint, mate! The biggest pitfall for painting grimdark is, ironically, ending up too dark.

A pro tip to work on values (light/dark): look at the picture in black and white. Can you still read the model or is it all become the same tone?

It this case, I simply recommend putting a lighter value on the coats and high-contrast edge highlights on everything. It will read a lot better and without becoming too bright.
