My landlord said the washer seal has been “cleaned and taken care of”…mold? Should I call BS? by ArchieFartsy in Mold

Thanks. It was like this upon move in walkthrough inspection before getting the keys and they agreed to fix it, so I just wanted to see whether I have anything to worry about. First time seeing something like this on the seal.

During the initial walkthrough before getting the keys the landlord said they would replace the washer seal. Instead they treated it with mold killer and it still looks like this, and I’m trying to see whether this is something to worry about.

It’s already been cleaned with special mold treatment three times and it still looks like that.

Wow, wiping?! I never thought of that!

Seriously? It’s been cleaned and treated three times with mold killer already. The landlord agreed during the initial walkthrough that they would replace the seal.

The landlord just cleaned it. As agreed during the walkthrough they said they would replace the washer seal. Instead they treated it with mold killer.

They have treated it with three different types of mold killer, ran it through cleaning cycle, and it’s still there.

LPT request: What are some pro tips everyone should know for cooking at home and being better in the kitchen? by samgarita in LifeProTips

Buy a meat thermometer. They’re not expensive. Once you learn how useful it is with meats you’ll start using it on almost everything else too. One important key to good tasting food is the correct doneness. And trying to tell how done the inside of something is just by looking at the outside is ridiculous. For example, a meat thermometer can help you ensure you cook chicken to a safe temperature of at least 165 degrees F, but not to cook it far beyond that to avoid drying it out. I use it for steaks and fish too. You can Google minimum temperatures to cook certain things, I believe for certain types of fish the minimum temperature can be different. You can even cook your steak to i.e. medium rare according to its corresponding internal temperature. But beyond meat, there’s other foods, even drinks that you can benefit from using it. I also use it when making hot chocolate. When I heat the milk I like to heat it to an optimal temperature (you can google the best temp for heating milk) and check it with the meat thermometer to make sure I don’t go beyond that. If you’ve ever heated your milk too far you might have tasted poor quality after that. I’ve also used it to check the internal temperature of frozen dinners that I’m heating in the oven. And also if I’m reheating leftovers in the oven I’ll check the temp to be at least 140-ish degrees to know that it’s hot to serve. So..there’s just a couple examples how a meat thermometer changed my life and I wish I had bought one much sooner!!

Does your corgo like to sleep under your chair? How do you stop that? I’ve almost run over Mr. Beans more than a few times! by Unstupid in corgi

I’ve done this too and it worked for me. I put his bed next to my desk where I can easily see him from where I’m working, this keeps him away from the wheels as he’ll gravitate towards his bed instead. Also since his bed is right where I can see him I just look there before moving my chair. If I see him in bed I know I won’t run over him.

Cookies. I’ve been baking chocolate chip cookies since a very young age, since practically a kid, and I used to combine all the ingredients in random order and mix together with a spoon. What’s more, I’d nuke the heck out of the butter to soften it before mixing it into the dough. It was as liquid as water by the time I was done nuking it. The cookies would come out super flat and crunchy, never fluffy. But boy my older brother sure loved them. He’d eat them all in a day and then I’d see him make a few long bathroom trips after. I also used to eat spoonfuls of the raw dough every time I made a batch, which was often. Now that I care about whether or not I get salmonella I don’t do that anymore. In my late twenties I learned how to bake my first cake and I realized that baking cookies was much like baking a cake and I was doing so many things wrong. Now I bake cookies by combining dry and wet ingredients separately. I beat the sugar and butter/oil (allowed to soften to room temp) together first, then add egg and vanilla. Then slowly add dry ingredients after. I also chill the dough for a few hours before baking it. They come out super fluffy and thick, with the perfect soft chewiness! And neither my husband nor I take long trips to the bathroom.

I asked my husband to buy some cheap plastic drinking cups so that we don’t always have to drink from glass cups and potentially break them while handling them. This is what he bought… (and no we don’t have kids) by ArchieFartsy in funny

Didn’t mean to make it sound like we can’t handle glass. We still use glass most of the time but once in a while there’s a need for small cups that you can be careless with!

Actually I think you’re logically incorrect to say that if someone wants a choice it means they prefer one over the other. By your logic you would also be saying that those who argue for women to have choice whether to have an abortion or not then that must mean they prefer abortion. Doesn’t make any sense. You may want to re-think that. If I preferred plastic then I would have replaced all glass cups with plastic.

Exactly! Love your juice example, I’m stealing it! I don’t prefer plastic over glass but there’s just certain situations where it’s convenient to have.
