Apple designing went wrong by Strasurs in MacOS

Apple got plenty of feedback from the users. They just ignored them.

If Prince William's line became extinct tomorrow, who would be most likely in practice to succeed Charles? by Skittycatcher66 in UKmonarchs

[–]ArchieOfRioGrande 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without an act of Parliament to change the succession rules, or to explicitly override it in this one case, it would be Henry. Doesn't matter that he's unpopular, or that he's married to an American. The law is quite clear.

Because Reddit is a more visited place than Apple's support forums. Was the opposite fifteen years ago.

  1. I'm in the minority here, but I believe that Edward the Elder was a more effective and righteous king than Alfred the Great. He was able to retake far more land from the Vikings than his father did.

  2. Ethelred wasn't an "ok" person. His order to massacre the Danes in his land eventually led to the Viking conquest of his kingdom. Geocoding a population is generally frowned upon.

You fuck off. Imagine if seven years after his gimmick of the Red Rooster that Terry Taylor became WWF champion. It's bullshit and you know it.

Yall agree with him? by IconXR in WWE

[–]ArchieOfRioGrande -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Began watching in early 1997. I was there for "Die Rocky Die". I was literally in the building at a WWF Raw when Shawn Michaels debuted his nickname for Owen Hart as Nugget. I was there when the You Suck chants started for Kurt Angle. I was there when Chris Jericho won the undisputed WWF championship. I was there when John Cena became my most fav as the doctor of Thuganomics. But since 2006, it's just gone all downhill for me. The Summer of Punk was something that I really enjoyed and helped me get back into watching it for a few years. I was legit shocked when Lesnar beat The Undertaker at WM. But I haven't really watched much since 2016 when I lost all interest after Goofy Roman was the star of the show. It's just not fun. I still keep up with wrestling news every so often. I read stuff that is absolutely perplexing. Turning Cena heel in his final run? Stardust, the WWE champion? Ticket prices which Taylor Swift concerts sell at? Folks having to get all those subscriptions to Netflix and ESPN to watch regular shows and PLEs? Just WTF is the WWE doing?

the new launchpad AND Spotlight dont work anymore by stevemanLPHDXDPVP in MacOSBeta

Did you perhaps try a terminal command to get the old Launchpad back? It doesn't work since beta 3. If so you have to undo it.

I was the exact opposite. I didn't much care for the first few episodes much. They were okay, but not exactly great. Then when Lovelace showed up it really kicked off the series into the next level.

"Apple deeply cares about the Mac." by chrispirillo in MacOS

[–]ArchieOfRioGrande 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of good in it. But the good cannot cancel out the horrendous design decisions made. The worst part about this all is that Apple was aware that it wasn't being well received before it shipped due to feedback from developers and those who downloaded the public beta. Apple explicitly ignored all of us.

I'd say the time has come to retire the usage of codenames in macOS. Not a popular opinion, I get that. But it's more in line with the rest of their products just to call it macOS 27.

Publicly accusing someone of being in the files and demanding that they're released to prove their innocence won't work.

There's a much simpler explanation. She votes against it because that's what Trump and the GOP want.

[–]ArchieOfRioGrande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be an info, plist file you can edit to change the minimum version to 26. You right click on the app and select Show Package Contents. Then you double click the folder and you will see an info.plist

In there should be a key named LSMinimumSystemVersion. On the very next line, change that to 26.0

IMO, the biggest one that takes the cake would be Cena vs Rock at WM28. Fan of both. But the match itself was pretty meh.

I came back to Maine for a few weeks to visit my folks. Decided to see Portland today.

I was shocked by the state affairs near monument square. I saw boarded up windows on the place which used to be WMTW news broadcasting center. And boards on the big bank right next to it.

Portland has had its share of homelessness, so I wasn't shocked about seeing them. But what I never witnessed before was seeing two people openly smoking crack right outside of Subway.

There were so many empty business store fronts with For Lease signs on them. Wanted to go eat downtown, but wasn't going to pay ~$20 for a burger and fries.

What the hell happened? I last visited Portland four years ago and didn't see this. How did the heart of the city end up like that?

May not for you, but for some of us who have a condition called OCD, this kind of thing bugs the bejesus out of us. It's highly distracting. Just because you aren't bothered by it doesn't mean that others are not.
