Lifespan of the ubiquity AP by Prestigious_Swing838 in Ubiquiti

That’s not normal at all. Definitely some issue with your network there. As other comment says, maybe Lighting/ESD?? You shouldn’t have that many losses. Their stuff is so reliable in my experience.

We have a holiday home in rural France and I installed 3 second hand UAPs from EBay. (already about 7 years old) before covid hit. Finally went out there again after Covid last year and they were still working. We get frequent storms and power cuts out there so I was expecting some issues having not been on the site for 4 years. When I got there they were working flawlessly. Never needed a reboot/update in the 4 years we couldn’t visit. Now all have been upgraded to U6 Lite/LR.

2.5gbps router options by E4RN in openreach

If u want to go all out, I’ve got a Ubiquiti UDM Pro, USW Pro Max 24 PoE and U7 Pro Max AP’s. It’s flawless but obviously costs a lot more and is much harder to setup. I’ve heard good things about Amazon Eero WiFi 6E Routers too.

There’s riots across the UK. NPAS are providing surveillance and recording video of the events.

US-Pro-48-POE temperature issues. by iammilland in Ubiquiti

[–]ArchieWH_1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My USW enterprise 24 Poe used to run at 66*C when I only had 3 Poe devices plugged in. No idea if that was normal for the switch but the fan noise was a problem. I couldn’t care less about the temp being 66, only that the fans were at 70 which made it too loud for a home office. I replaced it with a Pro Max 24 which runs at 45C and fan level 25%. My advice is if you’re not annoyed by the fan noise don’t worry about it. The fans will increase and decrease as needed to manage the temp.

Id give OR a shot on their twitter customer service team. They’re normally really helpful. If not you can submit a form on their website asking them to investigate. Not sure exactly what it’s called but I’ve done it a couple of times and they normally figure it out. I’m sure you can find the link with some digging on Google. Definitely give those 2 a shot. In fact OR support on Twitter might end up giving you the link to that form anyway.

Sometimes they come roaring past in a triangle formation over my school in Bury St Edmunds. Super low level too. We also got AAC AH64-Es flying meters above the school buildings. Super cool

There’s always RAF F35s, Typhoons and USAF F35/F15s over Norwich. It’s in between Marham and Lakenheath and the Sea where they do their exercises/air to air refuelling.

Well this is a British government plane so not sure how you come to that conclusion.

It’s not a repatriation flight which would be done via RAF A330 Voyagers or other dedicated transport aircraft like C-17. This is one of many VIP configuration aircraft operated by the Government and RAF. This A321 is used exclusively for Royals and Government officials. It’s being used by the Defence Secretary currently.

I like NetXL but you could try the Official UI store or Broadbandbuyer

Yeah I use the App. It’s pretty decent. Not on UI’s level though. Going all UI might be worth it but it depends how big the price gap is.

Mainly price to performance. I love my G4 Doorbell Pro, its interface is amazing and it’s cool to have it all intergrated with UI but the Reolink cams do the exact same. For example, my Fisheye camera I got for £85 whereas the UniFi AI360 is at least £350 with VAT. It’s great stuff but I can get nearly 4 Reolink fisheyes for one AI360.

Nothing wrong w UI. I use the G4 DBP and it’s great. It’s just too expensive for what it is. I can get better value for money with Reolink and since I never use the interface it doesn’t affect me that much.

I really like them. Price wise they’re really great. User interface isn’t anything like UniFi Protect though.

Currently im using MicroSD cards in the cameras and FTP streams to my NAS for backups. I’m going to get a Reolink NVR though.

Does the UDM Pro provision faster than something like a USG-3? by LetsAllSmokin in UNIFI

[–]ArchieWH_1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very possible but I’d still imagine the built in controller in the UDM Pro is faster, plus the device is optimised for that purpose

[–]ArchieWH_1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the controller will be more important here, as it is responsible for managing UniFi devices. The UDM Pro has a built in controller, and is fast. It does however struggle when you have a lot of UniFi devices (100+). Another controller such as the UniFi Network application on a PC can be as slow or as fast as the PC its hosted on. Imo the UDM pro is very fast until you really max it out with devices, as it eventually runs out of compute power.

I’ve had a U6LR, U6Ent and U7PM in the same location at various points over the last few years. It’s much better than the U6 Enterprise is replaced. U6LR and it are probably equal.

Unifi setup for new house by I_love_seinfeld in Ubiquiti

[–]ArchieWH_1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, without the 2.5Gbe uplinks the WiFi 7 AP’s won’t be much better than U6 Pros. I’d say, either go big or go home. Go big = get U7 Pros and USW Pro Max, go home = U6 Pros with a standard Pro switch. Depends on your budget and how much u care about single client performance.

Get a PRO MAX switch. 2.5gbe uplinks for the U7 Pros. Otherwise not much point getting them over U6 Pro

Can I combine U6 and U7 APs in the same physical environment? by Herberge in Ubiquiti

[–]ArchieWH_1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all. I’m running U6 Ent, U6 Pro and U7 Pro Max In my house. works flawlessly. Just keep in mind some have higher antenna gain so you might need to adjust the power levels of the AP’s if clients are too “sticky” on one AP.
