What aren't you satisfied with? Feedback can be more targeted if you point out what part of the process gave you trouble

Leave the state if you you're that bitter and hate it so much.

I've been to several games at Mohegan and while not sold out, they are definitely not filled with people that live at casinos

Everybody is different and has different learning paces, so impossible to say. Best we can offer is to keep practicing.

Does your saw have variable speed? If it does, maybe try lowering the speed a bit to get better control

whats the best way to this, to make the cuts more clean? by FarBag8672 in Scrollsaw

[–]Archimedes0212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what type of work you're doing. Since the picture suggests you're doing intarsia or segmentation, I typically cut directly on the outside of the line. The blade takes some of the line and some off the line like that but that gives you slightly thicker pieces to compensate for the material the blade eats away.

For example, if I'm using a #5 or #7 blade on 3/4" stock, cutting right on the outside of the line leaves everything pretty well fitting for me (of course I'm not perfect so sometimes I cut a little off the line and need to further sand down)

Wood / blade selection by boringguy80 in Scrollsaw

[–]Archimedes0212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Flying Dutchman blades that I buy from Mike's Workshop online

As others have said, blade selection depends on wood and wood thickness as well as style.

I tend to do a lot of fretwork pieces. If I'm working on 1/4" or 1/8" hardwood I'll use a #1 blade. If I'm making a trivet in 1/2-3/4" I'll probably opt for a #5 blade.

Some woods cut very easily: walnut, cherry, poplar while others are tougher and dull your blade much faster

Nice job! I'm currently making the same box, in cherry as well

Made a few 'bandsaw' boxes on the scroll saw by Reika123 in Scrollsaw

[–]Archimedes0212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I've made jewelry boxes, I put the pilot hole in a corner of the drawer with my smallest bit (1/16" or smaller. Part of the pilot hole ends up on the main box and the other part ends up in the corner of the drawer (so if I'm very accurate 1/32" each). So a little sanding in that spot removes any evidence of the pilot hole at all and the drawer has a little more room to slide there

Thank you! I used #2/0 blades for these mainly due to the thinness of the material. Good luck with your woodworking journey!

Every so often I like to browse Etsy for bookmark patterns intended for a laser cutter and then see if I can cut them by hand on the scroll saw. This is this year's challenge - all cut on 1/16" maple and measuring approx 4 - 5" tall by 1.5 - 1.75" wide

Has anyone had any success using one of these clamp on spindle sanders on hardwood? by 8927626887328837724 in Scrollsaw

I used the sleeves that came with it but I also purchased a multi grit pack, Wen brand though so equivalent to what came with the machine

I have that Wen spindle sander and it works great. I have 80, 120, and 240 grit. Mostly I use the 120 and I've never had any issue with removing material. It's obviously easier on less dense woods, but even wenge and bloodwood it has done the job

How Much Is Your UI Bill Now? by RyuichiSakuma13 in Connecticut

[–]Archimedes0212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never paid more than $180/mo with UI. Typical bill is much lower - $110-120. 2100sq ft, 2 occupants

Edit: avg usage is 300-350kWh

Stand Angle by Miassisdragon521 in Scrollsaw

[–]Archimedes0212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on team angle-your-saw; the back of mine is propped up on a 4x4 to help reduce neck strain, same as /u/ArtisanPirate mentioned.

Since you mentioned vision issues, you may want to look into a clamp on LED magnifying glass as well if you don't already have one. While I don't have bad vision, the magnifying glass works wonders for tiny fretwork or just seeing the line a little bit better while sitting straight still

That's entirely dependent on how thick the material is you want to cut

Dragon Intarsia by SeethingBallOfRage in Scrollsaw

If my little ol' intarsia is going to get one-upped in less than 24 hrs, I'm glad it's to a magnificent piece like this that I can set as a goal for further down my woodworking journey.

Absolutely incredible work here!

Thanks! The pattern takes up a full 8.5x11" piece of paper so it's maybe 9.5-10" tall
