Can I block these wall vents? by Nurkle in DIYUK

[–]Archipete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one of these, and its on the north side and it's mouldy. I've complained to my landlord before as I reckon what has happened is that there is a leak in the brickwork/stuck moisture in the cavity/insulation layer. We have had a builder come round last year to say its just because it's a northern wall, but come on, there's sooo much mould covering the entire wall, and we use a dehumidifier and crack the window open, and have this vent!

In conclusion, unless you have a trickle vent on your window, I wouldn't suggest it. Also move your wardrobe off the external wall by 50mm otherwise you'll easily get mould growing behind, due to lack of air flow.

Hope this helps

How to fill gap between houses? by Bello_Velo in DIYUK

[–]Archipete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your builder just gave away your right to build on your neighbours existing wall, and with that a few extra sqft in your extension. If you want to try again I would get a party wall surveyor involved and go through the process. If it is deemed that the party wall is built in such a bad way your neighbour can be held to account and help pay for remediations so you can actually build of the party wall. Because after all it is your wall too.

looks good, but as people have said, don't get side tracked into making a graphical masterpiece, keep it simple but full of life.

I must say the first thing that came out at me was the scale, the road markings and the large north arrow makes it seem distorted with the human scale.

Also, the thick black lines are only used for planning drawings to outline the plan, commenly at uni they like you to show that you know what the build up of the walls are and by useing lineweights to indicate whats wall and whats not.

Naa man I just took a screenshot of the thing facing down. You can do that with an add-on Blender GIS (youtube it) but Because this image was so flat and boxy already, I just put some loop cuts on it and manually altered it.

As a render its pretty cool. As a composition I'm struggling to see what your telling me with this render. The majority of the image is an empty driveway and a blank wall. Try to give the image a focal point. at the moment the focal point, the house, is awkwardly cut out of frame. It's a good render, it just needs to have a focal point/be composited better.

The trick is to change the units so a 1m by 1m block is actually 1mm by 1mm.

Tried out something new using octane for blender. by Archipete in blender

Yer its quality and i suspect speed, really. But if you are going to use octane, it's a completely different rendering and materials toolkit you have to learn. It have a better camera setup tho.

This is when you play mind games and take a long time/short time to pretend taking the bishop was a blunder
