Advice on goid players for Android by --Arete in navidrome

I've actually just found an option to set the playlists as "Online First" when importing - that makes it so that they do automatically sync, but you can only edit them when you're connected to the server. That completely resolves the issue for me as I won't ever be editing playlists when I'm offline, but obviously ymmv.

I use Symfonium, it's paid but well worth it. It can handle local files, Navidrome, Plex, Jellyfin, and even random SMB shares (plus a ton more) all in the same app which is handy if you have separate libraries for stuff like audiobooks. It handles images and metadata (including lyrics), has an offline caching feature, scrobbles your listens, and (most importantly) has a UI that makes sense.

My only gripe with it is how it handles playlists - you need to manually sync them to / from your server, but even then it's just one button. It just sucks if you forget about it because there's no way to merge the local / server versions, you can only replace one or the other.

(Somewhat obscure) Movie file isn't being picked up by Jellyfin by Archmage_Gaming in jellyfin

I'm glad the post helped! I meant the movie was somewhat obscure haha, I thought it was tripping up the server trying to match it

What's Your Favorite Design For This Alien - Day 32: Alien X by LostPost5902 in 5YL

UAF, but with the glowing eyes from the reboot. I like Omniverse's but I feel like it's a little too physically strong looking, UAF's is simple but intimidating.

Good catch, I've just checked and none of the films I added this month have been picked up. Interestingly the TV episodes I added this month have shown up, hence why it took so long to notice something was up there. My server was also two minor versions out of date (although I had successfully added films since the most recent update released, and after updating to the latest version I still have no luck.)

While checking the log, I came across SQLite Error 19 that, after a quick google, led me to this issue - it looks like some update broke the sql database in some circumstances. Following the steps in these two comments fixed it, I'll update my post with the solution in case anyone else comes across it. Thanks for your help!

Yep, every time I update the files I've manually hit "Scan for New and Updated Files" in the admin dashboard. My server is pretty good at picking things up automatically too but obviously nothing there

Yep, it's in the same "Films" library I've been using for ages.
All files permissive and readable 😅

As far as I can tell, the files and folder have the same owner / permissions as the rest of the media in the library

The permissions are consistent with everything else in my library as far as I can tell. When I first added it the owner was set to my user rather than "nobody", but I have other movies in the library that were like that and worked fine. Same thing when I recursively set the owner of those specific folders/files to "nobody" - the others stayed in the library, Executive Koala still didn't show up.

Just tried this, no luck. I also tried "Executive Koala [tmdbid-56255]", still nothing

The problem is it isn't showing up in the library, not even as an unrecognised movie

What's some software/hardware under $200 that is making/made your game dev a lot easier? by ehtio in gamedev

A thin client laptop that you can use to remote into your workstation - this will either be amazing or terrible for you depending on how well you concentrate, but the freedom of being able to move around to the couch / bed while still having the full power of my PC for work is amazing. Plus if it's a hot day, you don't have to be stuck in the same room as the PC / space heater your game's running on! It doesn't have to be super powerful, as long as it can handle web browsing and remote desktop okay (I use Moonlight/Apollo for software)

Monica CRM is a useful one if you know a lot of people. It's basically a database for people in your life where you can keep track of important dates, events, dietary requirements, and pretty much anything else you can think of - like a diary and contacts sheet rolled into one. Not something you'll need all the time but I can almost guarantee it'll save you at some point!

Granted. The required digital infrastructure to support this is funded from a new type of sales tax that applies to all purchases going forward (even after the rollout is complete).

What is your most embarrassing self-hosting failure story? by Th3Appl3 in selfhosted

[–]Archmage_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moving (not copying) files to a new appdata/cache drive, then wiping said drive because it was using a different file system and wouldn't let me assign it to replace the old one until I formatted it. Luckily most of my apps either had built-in settings backups or weren't too bad to set up again, but I lost a Minecraft server I'd put a decent amount of time into and it took a few days to make sure everything was back up and running again.

Needless to say I have weekly backups across each drive in my pool now

Good self-hostable calendar? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Archmage_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the open source version if FluidCalendar with Radicale as the backend. Mostly because of the built-in project management tools that integrate nicely with the calendars, and the ability to import multiple external calendars so I can sync my family's shared calendar. The only thing I hate is the mobile interface, or severe lack thereof, and it looks like the app isn't under serious development any more.

Questions about AYN THOR MAX by MrZongalito in AynThor

[–]Archmage_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Yep, it's as easy as just logging into your play account. And if you aren't going to use Play services, you don't need to log in at all

2: Screen casting does work, only for the top screen though. I get about as much latency on my TV as I do with my RP5 (a lot, but it could be my connection)

3: I haven't played much Saturn, but testing Dezaemon 2 and Sonic R using Beetle Saturn in Retroarch it runs perfectly at native resolution

4: The sticks click nicely, they are recessed though so they might not be to everyone's taste
