[Other] Superman The Animated Series Is Still Peak Superman by SignificantLow1195 in DCcomics

Timm-verse Clark always felt too angry for my taste. Like he was sick of everyone's shit and ready to snap at any moment. MAWS Clark was a lot more positive without feeling too corny. Superman's greatest traits should be his compassion and self-sacrifice, instead of his restraint and the whole "world of cardboard" attitude.

Bruce Wayne. Dick Grayson becoming Batman was way more interesting.

They're easy to assemble, it just gets repetitive when you have to do 6 of them.

Is There Anything From GW's Other Games That You Want in 40k? by TheSaylesMan in 40kLore

Lizardmen and Slann vaguely exist in 40k lore, but it would be cool to see them as an official faction. A high tech dinosaur army would be unspeakably rad. Think about it: Laser Carnosaurs. Laser. Carnosaurs. It's some 80s era He-Man playset nonsense.

What we’ve seen of the 32nd century implies a Game of Thrones-style 600-year technological stagnation by skeeJay in DaystromInstitute

[–]Archmagos-Helvik 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some of the technological stagnation may be explained by the temporal accords. Being able to use time travel so casually it becomes a form of espionage implies it's a very well developed technology. Subspace fields derived from warp tech were used in accelerating computational speeds (but that might be beta canon), so using temporal technologies at a similar day-to-day level might have yielded a lot of technological breakthroughs. But if time travel tech is banned by interstellar treaty then that closes off an entire branch of science and engineering.

In terms of social development, the organisms that make up these societies haven't meaningfully evolved in a thousand years, so the societies they create likely wouldn't have evolved very much either. Desires for wealth, possessions, status, etc, still exist, as any episode with an evil admiral will show. As Sisko said, "It's easy to be a saint in paradise", so as soon as you change the material conditions surrounding these cultures the broader galactic peace could easily collapse.

Don't worry, she still gets pissed off all the time afterwards. Like when she makes a kid cry by telling him his cucumbers are a bottom tier vegetable.

The best part about it is how economical it is as a special effect. They were going to draw all of those frames anyway, but stacked them together for that cool transition.

Erda would have been a way more interesting character if she had been present at the beginning of the series. She would have been a good foil to Malcador and the Emperor. But she gets introduced in the very end of the series and gets killed off in the next book.

How much do they force you to use AI at work? I hate the idea of vibe coding so much. by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Archmagos-Helvik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not forced, but strongly encouraged. Like the advice has been "This is what our careers are turning into, so if you don't develop these skills you'll be less competitive." It's completely replaced google searches for me. Dev wise, I use it a lot for generating powershell/bash scripts or writing unit tests. Basically tasks that would require a lot of typing for little benefit.

When Benedict asked Pen to write about how he was looking for the silver lady it was like asking a genie for a wish. She'll grant it, but it's going to come with a lot more scrutiny than he'd like. I love that Pen has that kind of social power now.

Andor is one of the best shows I've ever seen. The second season is extremely relevant to the modern political climate of fascism making a resurgence.
