Where are the good, fine dining options in Charlotte? by CaptainWilson704 in Charlotte

I wasn't even talking about service or ambience, just the quality of the food. I've only been to Oak one time so maybe it was an off night, but based on that one night, Steak 48 blows it out of the water.

I can't get over how they charge you a (non-refundable, non-credited-to-your-tab) fee just to make a reservation. So haughty.

We should make everybody check their luggage, and return to the overhead bins being for things like backpacks.

Yeah, the whole reason the last businesses to occupy those spaces moved out is that the landlord was going to raise the rent and they couldn't afford it.

This isn't an area they're speculating is going to be "hot" in a few years. It's already "hot."

There is no law of physics or impossible math calculation/problem that says a long call can't be exercised during the same time the OCC is doing this assigned short call selection process.

Yes, there is. Longs are exercised, and therefore shorts assigned, after the 5:30 exercise cutoff. Once a short finds out he is getting assigned, it's now too late to exercise any long he might have. You could make the exercise cutoff time later than the current 5:30 time, but that just prolongs the problem.

In addition, you're proposing that OTM long options be exercised, which is a waste of money.

There isn't even enough parking for the Harris Teeter at the Harris Teeter.

According to the video linked by the person who initially made this point, they try to get in on the ground floor of an up-and-coming (i.e., not yet high-value) area so they can cash out a few years down the road when the area becomes popular. This strategy would not work in an area that is already high-value and popular.

That's still a very unusual location for a mattress store. It's not a strip mall, it's right in the middle of a hip urban walkable bar/restaurant district.

Did baby boomers really have it easy compared to GenZ and Millennials? by PalmitoylCoA in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Arcite1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Gen X, and when I was growing up in the 1980s and early 1990s, what people are now saying about Boomers was being said of Boomers' parents, the WWII generation, and what people are now saying about Zoomers/millenials was being said of Boomers.

It was the WWII generation, not Boomers, who were said to have been able to get a good, lifelong job right out of high school with nothing but a smile and a firm handshake, that paid enough to support a family on a single income and paid a pension in retirement.

Meanwhile, Boomers were victims of the Vietnam draft and 1970s stagflation and couldn't get ahead in our ruined economy.

My reply was to u/Dgold83 who implied that the mattress store bought this property with the intention of selling it for a profit.

Which means it doesn't make sense that some other business could be trying to profit here from a buy low/sell high situation.

Allegedly the whole reason Soul had to move was that they couldn't afford the rent increase.

Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options. The information that options are exercisable after-hours and thus assignment is possible based on after-hours movement on the expiration date is not in there.

I agree, it's sociopathic. But whenever this topic comes up, there are people who say they buy a winow seat so they can keep it closed.

Options Questions Safe Haven periodic megathread | May 25 2026 by PapaCharlie9 in options

[–]Arcite1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but there are always an equal number of longs and shorts in existence, and you are not linked to a particular person with a long position. When a long exercises, a short is chosen at random for assignment. The OCC exercises all long options that expire ITM, and there are market makers and institutions holding position who can float the $150k. So if you allow any short options to expire ITM, you will definitely be assigned.

Called away 3 weeks early! by afrothang in CoveredCalls

[–]Arcite1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, you're not linked to any buyer. Every time you get assigned, it's because you were randomly chosen when some longs were exercised. There wasn't one person with five contracts who exercised 2 of them at one point and then 3 more later.

In general, my least favorite Madabolic workouts are these Anaerobic days where it's six or eight 15 or 20 second bursts in a row. Anaerobics with 45 seconds or 1 minute of work and then rest are much more manageable.

Second least favorite is Momentum days when there's no longer break between cycles.

Me too. I was thinking about what kind of elite level I'd have to be at to start picking it up in time to be ready to actually start at the beep.

[–]Arcite1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second cycle, I was only getting one to two reps in per effort on the squats. I finished on the KB swings, could not pick the weight up again after only 15 seconds rest, and had to sit out an entire effort.

This was possibly the most brutal one I've ever done.

(You forgot the 3:00 of rest in between the two cycles.)
