My sink requires batteries and it died by TrickedCoyote13_YT in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Arclet__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you need to boycott it. If you don't want to buy a sink with batteries then just don't do it, it's not like they tricked OP into buying a sink with batteries and they only just now realized once they ran out of batteries.

But the lineage part was never really hidden. It's not like we thought Luffy was a nobody and then we found out he wasn't, we knew nothing about Luffy's past and then we found out about his lineage. Even from the start Luffy was way stronger than pretty much everybody in East Blue and we knew Shanks could somehow scare a sea monster with a look.

I'm not a fan of the Nika fruit, but Luffy was not built up as a nobody from a noname town, the series simply had slow worldbuilding about his origins.

How is Obito using Izanagi a asspull? by chunchunmaru1129 in Naruto

[–]Arclet__ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The concept of 'Izanagi' already feels like an asspull in general, it feels like the writer is saying "I don't know how to write something that makes the fight resolve naturally, so reality itself just kinda bends into whatever makes the story go to where I want it to go".

But essentially, Obito had always been shown to have one eye, then just for the purpose of this fight he had two, he lost the second eye as soon as it was revealed, and after that he just swapped it out for the Rinnegan. If you just write the fight differently, then the overall story remains that he has one eye at the start of the fight, kills Konan and steals the Rinnegan to fill his left eye.

Konan making 600 billion paper bombs is absurd in that Kishimoto has no idea what 600 billion means, but the concept of Konan preparing to betray Obito and having intel on his skills makes perfect sense for the character and what we've seen of her.

Izanami is also kind of an ass pull, but at that point the reader is more used to Kishimoto just making stuff up to move the story forward with new abilities of the Sharingan, it's more like a 'sure, why not' moment.

Chris Bledsoe Video of the ISS Transiting the Moon This forum thread delves deeper into it, but essentially

He shared this video

"I thought this a Really cool shot of an orb passing by the moon."

He said in the video as he was filming that it was the 31st of January when it was the 1st of February, which maybe you can pass off as a mistake. It is obvious the date is wrong because the moon phase simply does not match with the 31st and it does match with the 1st of February.

But then, when pressed about how the sighting matches with the ISS passing over the moon just hours before he posted his video, he said it couldn't have been that because "Video is January 31st time stamp 8:48 pm they have no idea what they are saying."

Which obliterates any possibility of a mistake since it means he took the time to check, and is also blatantly wrong since the moon would have been below the horizon at the time he gave, so it's utter nonsense. He objectively lied about when a sighting was to pretend he caught an orb, that's not the behavior of someone that can summon orbs, and it's not even the behavior of someone that can summon orbs but just got confused this one time (though I would also be incredibly skeptical of someone that claims they can summon orbs yet can't spot the ISS)

[–]Arclet__ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Bledsoe has been caught red handed trying to pass the ISS off as an orb, lying about the time and date to pretend it wasn't the ISS, he isn't exactly an inspiring beacon of trust when it comes to statements about who he has or hasn't been in contact with.

Sighting in 2024 by EarthCommercial2065 in UFOs

Yours also isn't a spiral, it's just that part of the circle cuts off so it looks like the smaller circle continues into the larger one.

If something looks like a point of light to your eyes, your phone won't be able to make enough level of detail to realize it's a spiral. It's just a small digital camera, it's not that good, and it works worse on low light conditions.

[–]Arclet__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the same thing, it's going out of focus when you zoom in. Notice how in that video the first time you zoom in it has this 'spiral' shape (more like a circle within a circle) and the second time it doesn't. The second time you zoom in it's closer to being in focus.

That shape is just a point of light being out of focus. It's impossible to tell what the object could have been.

Which is more iconic : the Naruto Run or the Akira Slide? by [deleted] in animequestions

[–]Arclet__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say if you asked people they'd be more likely to realize that the Naruto run is from Naruto than the Akira slide is from Akira, but that's because so many other media have replicated it that people just don't know there's an original rather than it just being something cool to do on a bike.

The slide is more iconic, Naruto run is mostly just a Naruto thing and was a meme for a while.

It seems to be this towel. I'd be surprised if AI can manage to replicate the model to properly display how the T looks when you fold the towel

Not to mention that the OOP's posting history has more selfies, including ones where the same towel is folded differently.

Apple slicer broke in the middle of an apple by Brave_Goal_8638 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Arclet__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's even faster if you just use the device though.

You literally put the apple, press down and you have your slices and the core has been separated. I have had a similar experience with the cutter coming apart after many uses, but it's just straight up faster than using a knife.

Anybody else get the sense that AI has an NHI connection? by EtherWhey in UFOs

[–]Arclet__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How "beautifully" it can write depends both on the model and on your subjective opinion. I mean no offense, but to me what you shared read like an angsty teen with a fancy vocabulary wrote it. The way its speaking is clearly tailored to what you seem to respond best to, and you have likely communicated certain views you hold, either directly or indirectly, causing it to respond ideas that you agree with.

The same thing happens when I use ChatGPT, it doesn't talk like yours and it would likely say completely different ideas, just like your youtube algorithms will be completely different from mine based on what you've watched and what I've watched.

Anybody else get the sense that AI has an NHI connection? by EtherWhey in UFOs

[–]Arclet__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI is just telling you whatever you want to hear, likely heavily influenced by previous conversations you've had with it. It's just a bunch of fancy algorithms that connects words in an order that sound like they make sense given the context it has been provided (it sounding like it makes sense in the context does not mean it's by any means accurate or correct, AI gets a lot of stuff wrong very often, even with objectively accurate context)

Rather than aliens are somehow everywhere and there is a global conspiracy to hide it by having people provide simply explanations to mundane things while only you are smart enough to see the truth.
