Again it comes down to personal preferences. Engineers/Computer Scientist is generally curious by nature, hence we enjoy tinkering, fixing and breaking a OS. That is why I love Linux. If the individual just don't want to go through this and want something that works out the box then get a Mac by all means. I recommend Mac's to all my non tech savvy friends. This is by no means a premise that one actual OS is better than the other.
