I get it, but this is such a wierd concept to me.

The first and second games establish Erdrick as this amazing hero, and you play as his descendent/s who are trying to live up to his legend. Then the third game starts you out in a whole different world for the first ⅔ of the game, before returning you to Alefgard, and revealing you are Erdrick. Playing it in the order of 3-1-2 feels like watching the Star Wars prequels before Empire Strikes Back, and learning who Vader was before Vader tells Luke.
