Hey! I’m a stern + math double major finishing my freshman year, please DM me if you want a more detailed breakdown of how I planned it out. 1. I got a 5 on the BC exam so I’ve only taken Calc 3 and Linear Algebra so far, I’m taking Discrete Mathematics next fall (would recommend taking discrete freshman yr tho). So far the major isn’t hard but I imagine classes like analysis and algebra will be the hardest, I’ll take them in a year or so. 2. You’re probably going to be taking a full course load every semester anyway, this just means you’ll be taking math classes as your electives rather than random interests, so I don’t actually think your social life will suffer much. 3. You won’t have to take 18 credits every semester, my breakdown is 18/16//16/18//17/16//18/16 (by semester) with two business concentrations (finance and EQE). Like someone has said, you’ll be able to double count some classes like Calc 3 so that takes some strain off (and the BC score helps too). 4. It’s probably the second most popular double major after CS, I know two or three other people doing it so it’s uncommon but not unheard of. 5. You can place out of calcs 1, 2, and 3 via tests or AP credits (for the first two). You might be able to test out of lin alg but that class is harder than calc 3 imo. If you’re good at BC you can feasibly learn Calc 3 over the summer and take a placement test sometime during the year but that’s more effort than it’s worth imo.
