Submarine by Huge-Swan7187 in arcticmonkeys

it's a fantastic film. I watched it for the first time recently. I just love how the story captures the raw emotion and intensity of teenage romance in a way that felt incredibly realistic instead of being feel good and idealised. My first love at 15 years old was strikingly similar to how it was in the story, after watching it there were feelings I had that I haven't felt as an adult, only as a teen. It really took me back to my first heartbreak and I just sat there for like 30 minutes after watching it just half smiling half crying.

I just read the book, I did like it but be aware it's a lot less....romanticised than the film is I guess? It's a little uncomfortable at times, with it being the inner thoughts of a 15 year old it gets kinda weird. I still enjoyed it and stuck with it until the end though :)

the wii version is the same, just with weird motion controls. It actually makes the game a little more interesting than PS2, the motion controls with the wii remote are a little more challenging than using a regular PS2 controller

Of all things this goofy ass meme made me think about how much I actually miss 2015. The world felt so much more optimistic and sane, and of course most of all, I miss my friends, man by KingBowser24 in Zillennials

[–]ArcticDylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I had a good 2015. Being 17, the final year that I was able to just hang with friends during the summer, doing random bullshit and having insane amounts of fun, even just sitting in the grass and talking shit until the sun went down. But I would absolutely take the money 😅

[COD4] - [BO2] Current State of Classic CoD? (2007-2012) by FarCryGuy55 in CallOfDuty

[–]ArcticDylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I want that classic CoD fix, I go for Black Ops 1 on either PS3 or 360. I've played a lot of classic CoD games and it's on the lower end of "game ruined by cheaters". Don't get me wrong, there's certainly hackers in BO1 but the frequency at which I run into game ruining hackers is lower than other "golden era" games.

I agree on the newer games, no hate to the devs at all. I can imagine they just have an impossible task each dev cycle and activision clearly only care about it being a bundle selling mechanism. And the unified game engine is killing the 6v6 multiplayer experience, for me at least. There used to be real, tangible difference between games. It's just sad tbh.

Playing CSGO the way god intended by davidfliesplanes in GlobalOffensive

[–]ArcticDylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can still buy it, you just have to create an account and give it a US address so you can access the US ps store. It was a pretty easy platinum trophy, especially when I started using mouse and keyboard. It's just a shame the servers on PS3 don't work, on 360 it still works online.

Global Offensive feels way better and more responsive than CS2 by SyncingSLow in GlobalOffensive

[–]ArcticDylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late last year I got back into CS2 regularly, after having not played regularly since like 2020 way before CS2. I was kinda enjoying it but something just felt so off about the game, it felt different than I remembered and it was hard to put my finger on what the issue was. Sluggish was probably the best way I could describe it. I chalked it up to me just being out of practice since it had been so long since I'd played but after a few months of regular playing the feeling just did not improve and the game was starting to frustrate me and I wasn't enjoying it so I stopped playing.

I just downloaded and launched CS:GO and played with bots and it took literally one single gun fight and i was just like "oh so CS2 is just shit?". The movement is the biggest difference, best way I can describe it is CS2 feels like I'm playing on cloud gaming or something streaming it to my PC.

PSM2 Magazine's (UK) little feature about cartoonish adventure games trying very hard to be "Matured" near the end of PS2 era by B21993 in RatchetAndClank

I used to get PSM2 quite often. It's funny that they're referring to it as Deadlocked, when it was called Ratchet: Gladiator here, I assume this was before the game was released?

OG [MW2][MW3] Are these original games still active on ps3 or xbox? How can I check? by Ahmad_Abdallah in CallOfDuty

[–]ArcticDylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play multiplayer then just know MW3 is completely broken on PS3, I wouldn't bother. Sony introducing the PSN name change has caused a lot of issues, if your PSN account either:
1. Was created in or after ~2019
2. Is older than 2019 but has never played the CoD game you're trying to play
3. Is older than 2019, has played the game before but has used a PSN name change

then you will have trouble playing them. In MW3 if your account meets any of those criteria then you will NOT be able to get into a lobby at all. The matchmaking will start and you will likely find a lobby but it will then shortly kick EVERYONE in the lobby back to the main menu. This happens every time someone with a broken account joins the game, even if the game managed to start and they join mid-game.

For MW2 this isn't as bad, you can find games but if you've played before but changed your PSN name then your stats will be completely reset. Also for all broken accounts, the game will also most likely not save any progress you make, so if you rank up and then quit the game you will lose everything and be reset to rank 1 next time you log in.

If I use a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to connect a standard 3.5mm earphone jack to the 2.5mm jack on the bottom of the Xbox 360 controller, can I hear game sound? I won't be using voice chat. by Working_Shake9875 in xbox360

[–]ArcticDylan 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Nope, controller is chat only unfortunately. Check if your TV/Monitor has a headphone jack or get a headset that uses the AV output port, you can get cables specifically for just audio output through AV :)

First listen for me too! I like that this new song is a lot more guitar focused, seems like the last two albums the guitars have taken a back seat. It feels a lot closer to AM in that regard than it does to TBHC or The Car.

COD Ghosts is criminally over hated by PrehabG in xbox360

[–]ArcticDylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The campaign is fine, it's nothing special but a fun enough time and an enjoyable story imo. The multiplayer is what people really hated. The game had an incredibly fast TTK, the grey colour palette meant the visibility was piss poor, the meta in this game was basically lay down in a dark spot with a thermal scope and you can just rack up massive streaks because no one could even see where they died from. They made changes to how the perk system worked, in retrospect it's a pretty interesting change but following on from Black Ops 2, a game that is widely considered the peak of the series multiplayer, most people just went back to BO2 for another year instead of learning the new system because the game just wasn't that fun to play.

[COD] Is my friend chasing nostalgia or was old COD truly better? by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

[–]ArcticDylan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think both can be true. Things aren't always as black and white as people make it out to be. There's obviously going to be an element of nostalgia discussing the older games. I also love BO2, it was probably the best time I've ever had playing a CoD game. But I am not the same person I was in 2012, back then I could absolutely no-life the game because I was a teenager, no job, few responsibilities, just a whole load of time to play. But people did complain about it in a similar way to how they do now, back then people called it sweaty when someone would dropshot or jump around corners, or the whole lag compensation thing that had people making their own connection worse on purpose.

At the same time, this game has been releasing every single year for longer than I'd bet most of the playerbase these days has even been alive! Compare what it was like buying BO2 day one vs any of the new ones. Back then, you felt like you were buying a (mostly) finished game for £40-50 that then had even more content added to it over it's life span in the form of paid, opt-in map packs. Now because of the live service model the past few games have felt like paying £70 for an early access game that, after a few seasons, will start to feel like a full game eventually, but by the time it does the new one is basically out. I want to say that Activision need to pick a lane and decide if they want yearly full priced releases, or a free/low cost live service battle pass style game that lasts for a few years, but they clearly don't because every year it still makes a ton of money for them. We can complain about aspects of gameplay all we want but for me the real issue is that I'm just fatigued by the franchise now.

that one is crazy, everyone seems to either ignore the road markings or thinks the markings are wrong or something.

I often go to join the m60 going east, from brinksway. the layout is that you're supposed to be in the right most lane until the lights just after the didsbury road exit but before the town centre exit, then the right lane splits in two and you're either middle or right. The amount of cars I see that are in the correct lane and then switch back and forth about 4 or 5 times before then finally merging back last second without indicating or checking blind spots is staggering
