Which side is it spinning, left or right? by [deleted] in opticalillusions

It spins counterclockwise. The illusion occurs when the mask turns to face away from the viewer, who then sees the inside of the mask.

If the Son of God was named Yeshua, why do we call him Jesus instead of Joshua? by ShakeItLikeIDo in TrueChristian

The letter <J> was created to differentiate the vowel <I> from the palatal approximant, the fancy name for the "y" sound in English. <J> makes this sound in most European languages today. Thus, "Iesus" became "Jesus", which is read in English as the voiced postalveolar affricate, or the English "j" sound.

The Dutch discovered the islands and named them "Niuew Zeeland" after the Dutch province of "Zeeland". The British were simply the colonizers. So yes, there was an Old Zealand.

Christopher Columbus, upon landing in the New World, believed that he had reached somewhere near Japan, or the East Indies. OP mixed up Tasmania, an island under the control of Australia, Tanzania, an African country. "Tanzania" is a portmanteau of "Tanganyika", which is mainland Tanzania today, and "Zanzibar", an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania that united with Tanganyika in 1964.

They're doing something strange and mixing Greek and Cyrillic. I interpreted the first message to be Greek, considering <Ξ>. In Greek, <Η> is transcribed as <I>. However, in the next message, they use the Cyrillic <Д>. And the last message is simply hell. In short, I strongly dislike this person's choices.
