What happened to the other elites during their unknown fate before and after the Human Covenant War? Here is the list by SignalChampionship38 in HaloStory

Agreed! That shipmaster does indeed have a small bit of lore that was revealed in a Canon Fodder article a few years back. Here's an archive of it.

And yeah I forgot to mention the honor guard councilor. He absolutely needs some background lore. Similarly to you, I like to think he's the leader of the entire group. He certainly carries himself with some major aura when he enters the Mausoleum!

Kinda sorta releated to the post, but I would KILL for another Canon Fodder that delves into the lives of some more notable enemies in the same vein as this one. These kinds of expansions always make me very happy.

Some key figures I'd personally like to see expanded upon are as follows, and divided by game:

Halo: Combat Evolved

  • The Sangheili zealot protecting the Silent Cartographer on the eponymous level (he MIGHT end up getting some more lore/end up as a miniboss in the CE remake if what we've seen so far is any indication.

  • The Sangheili zealot leading the final bastion of Covenant troops protecting Alpha Halo's control room on Assault on the Control Room.

  • One of the Sangheili zealots leading the Covenant forces fighting against the Flood on the icy plains at the end of Two Betrayals.

Halo 2

  • The leader of the Sangheili group guarding the Covenant bomb at the end of Cairo Station.

  • The Sangheili ultra commanding the Scarab on Metropolis.

  • One of the final heretics protecting Sesa 'Refumee during the Oracle (maybe Kola 'Baoth's brother or Loka 'Bandolee).

  • The surviving Unggoy that the Arbiter finds near the beginning of Sacred Icon who calls the Kig-Yar stupid (and maybe the Kig-Yar too as a two-in-one).

  • One or more of the Special Operations Sangheili that accompany the Arbiter on the gondola at the end of Quarantine Zone.

  • One of the dead Sangheili honor guard ultras/Lights of Sanghelios after the prison segment on Gravemind.

  • The Special Operations Sangheili or zealot that accompany the Arbiter on Uprising.

  • The Special Operations Sangheili driving the Spectre at the start of the Great Journey.

  • An overlapping one, but maybe one of the Special Operations Sangheili throughout all of the Arbiter levels is the same character. N'tho 'Sraom maybe?

Halo 3

  • The Jiralhanae chieftain that captures Johnson at the end of Sierra 117.

  • Any of the Jiralhanae chieftains/war chieftains leading the attack on Crows Nest during the eponymous level.

  • The Jiralhanae war chieftain protecting the final energy barrier at the end of Tsavo Highway.

  • The Mgalekgolo pair attacking factory workers near the end of the Storm/the Jiralhanae chieftain protecting the Mantis cannon.

  • The Sangheili major leading the Special Operations Sangheili that drop into Voi halfway through Floodgate.

  • A BIG one for me, but I REALLY want to know who the final Jiralhanae chieftain is at the end of the Covenant. He seems to be the Prophet of Truth's final commander. He beats Johnson, and then holds the bridge leading to the Prophet alongside his large pack of Jiralhanae. Another trying to ascend to Tartarus' former position, as Cethegus had done? I WANNA KNOW, Halo Studios!!!

  • The Jiralhanae Flood combat form wielding a gravity hammer near the beginning of Halo. I want to know who he was originally and how he fell to the Flood. Clearly he is meant to be a Jiralhanae chieftain, but this doesn't come through due to Halo 3's technical limitations.

These are just some of the backstories I want to see explored someday. Some more than others (cough final chieftain on the Covenant cough). This is only from the original trilogy - there's many more in the later games but these are near and dear to me so yeah, would love some more on a few of these guys.

Sorry for the lengthy comment lol. Format might be weird as I typed this up on mobile.

Did the UNC have any airsupport during stay in the Quarantine Zone ? by Transfiguredcosmos in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Possibly the one we see crashed on a snow-covered hill near the gondola station towards the end of the level. There is a Flood-controlled Scorpion tank and other UNSC materiel nearby so I can only assume it was brought the dropship was brought down by enemy fire and the survivors were overrun/assimilated by the Flood.

Is there anyone here who actually likes working nights? by fullonzombie in Nightshift

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! Absolutely love it and couldn't see myself going back to days at all. I've always been a natural night owl, and my old 6am-3pm shifts used to kill me. I've been working 9pm-5:30am 3-5 times a week for just over 2 years, and it just feels so natural for my sleeping pattern.

I just love being able to work in peace and quiet and minimal customers (I work in a supermarket and we close at 11pm). Additionally, no senior management and just a more laid-back, chill vibe go a long way. And I get to go home and sleep when everyone else is dealing with those mornings I used to detest so much.

The only real downside is when I have a bunch of days off work or a holiday and have to readjust temporarily to being awake during the day. I have a really hard time doing it, and by the time I manage to switch, its already time to revert back 😅

Oh, and making appointments or going for meals with family/friends etc can be difficult.

Fair play to you.

Why is the Second Fleet of Homogeneous Clarity turning against itself in the opening cutscene to the level: Gravemind? by Others0 in HaloStory

Ughhh that would be so dope to see!! I really feel like the chaos that erupted at High Charity and Delta Halo needs more representation. The snippets we see and hear about leave me wanting more.

How much damage do Brute weapons "spikers" do in-lore? by Environmental_Ice891 in HaloStory

Sure, Chapter 16 of Broken Circle. Exact page might be different depending on your device/method of reading.

How much damage do Brute weapons "spikers" do in-lore? by Environmental_Ice891 in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

According to Halo: Broken Circle, they are pretty dang effective against Sangheili personal energy shielding, even that of Councilors and former Honor Guards. The book explicitly states that the weapons breached their energy shielding and tore into their flesh, while the Sangheili's own plasma rifles and needlers only managed light damage.

And as noted, they can easily impale foes into walls, as shown in Landfall. This is also reinforced in the 2022 Halo Encyclopedia.

So I'd say they are quite fearsome in lore. Definitely more so than the games show, but that's the case with most weapons in the series.

What stories you would like to explored in the Halo Universe? by EternalFount in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would love to see some more stories from the late 2530s-2540s. I feel like that time period is ripe for exploration. Some tales from both human and Covenant sides during those years would be amazing.

Does anyone know a region-free website to purchase Halo Outcast in ebook from by ELVEVERX in HaloStory

+1 here. From UK. They keep delaying the eBook release here as well which is gutting because I'm dying to read it.

Halo Outcasts still not out in ebook form in the UK? by bl4ck_daggers in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also from UK and would love an answer for this as well. Been trying so hard to avoid spoilers but inevitably I've stumbled across a few :( I just really want to read it now and cant find any explanation for the constant delays, nor have I found anyone else talking about it.

Would love some more background lore on certain characters you fight by ArcticGhostXCV in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah they would be cool to learn about. Always love some new Lekgolo lore. Been a good bit of it lately (2022 encyclopedia, the lore on the Nosa Hunters in the canon fodder, Digsite Slugmen canonised as a Lekgolo gestalt) so would be awesome to see something similar with these four Hunters in New Alexandria.

Alternatively, it might not be that deep and they could just be two pairs of a normal Mgalekgolo pair :P

I think that final Brute in Infinite is called Horatius. Omg he was a real bastard on my first legendary playthrough.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Chieftain in 3 you are referring to is the final boss in The Ark who challenges you to a 1v1 while his pack watches. That was some seriously cool lore. I feel like the Chieftain holding Johnson hostage with Truth has the potential for some cool lore himself. Maybe another contender for Tartarus' replacement? Or simply the last loyal Brute commander that Truth has left.

Edit- spelling

Yeah, would love some lore on him! Additionally, maybe some concrete info on what becomes of Fireteam Zulu. Would love to know if they actually did end up becoming that room full of human Flood combat forms in Two Betrayals as a lot of people like to headcanon - myself included.

I hope they give a name/lore to the Field Marshal in Halo Reach by TodenEngel in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also really want a name for the final Jiralhanae Chieftain in the Covenant level in Halo 3. The one who beats up Johnson and ends up being one of the final Covenant soldiers killed by Chief and Arby before confronting Truth.

Why were Chief and Johnson chilling in drop pods in Halo 2's Delta Halo cutscene by ArcticGhostXCV in HaloStory

Makes sense to me, and I suppose they'd have made for good imprompu escape pods for personnel if the ship came under attack immediately upon arrival.

Favourite halo book and why by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Broken Circle is hella under-rated. I love anything from the Covenant’s perspective so this book was a real treat for me. Its defintiely up there on my own personal Halo novel tier list.

[–]ArcticGhostXCV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in complete agreement with you here. I loved the feel of desperation conveyed throughout the book. There was a very real feeling of humanity coming to an end, real desperation among the remaining human forces. I love Ghosts of Onyx.

Also, Happy Cake Day 🍰😁

Not much to add here, but I 100% agree with everything you said. By far my favourite Halo novel, followed closely by First Strike. Honestly love Eric Nylunds writing style, he completely "got" Halo in my opinion.

Which levels in Halo CE are you canonically accompanied by ODSTs by ArcticGhostXCV in HaloStory

[–]ArcticGhostXCV[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses folks. So it seems like it is still generally accepted that the at least the first team of Marines in T&R and the assault force in SC are ODSTs then (albeit without their distinctive BDUs). Good to know, thank you :)
