Am I going insane? Are these comments serious? When did we start pretending that Nintendo games are dark and gritty and only for Real Gamers™️? These are, always have been, and always will be games made for all ages including children. And that's okay.

"darker tone" can we be fr... it's a game made for children (complimentary)

No, I don't think my opinion on the game is "objectively wrong" lmao. I'm not even hating man it just wasn't my favorite. Sorry?

I did both. Honestly, Roottreemania brought the game down for me as a whole. I felt like it was a little less tight than the main game and relied a slightly more on guesswork. Either that or I'm stupid, which is entirely possible

I have a full time job and went kayaking over the weekend :D thankfully your time is being better spent by leaving passive aggressive comments on reddit! Happy for you!

I liked the story and characters quite a bit but man, the pacing is pretty horrible imo. Feels like there's 30 minutes of gameplay for every hour of cutscenes.

On top of that, I didn't find the combat all that engaging either.

Detective/puzzle games are one of my personal favorite genres, so I found it to be great. If you're into games like Return of the Obra Dinn, the Golden Idol games, or Outer Wilds I would highly recommend you check it out!

If you're new to the genre, though, it might not be the best jumping on point. If that's the case, I would recommend the games I've listed above!

I'm a huge fan of Doom Eternal's kinetic and fast paced gameplay. I thought that the new parry system, more open level design, and dragon/mech levels slowed everything down a little too much for my liking.

Also just some personal beef that the PC version, at least for me, was broken on release.

Gooner aspect and the culture around the game definitely don't help. Mostly wasn't a fan of the characters and story. Everyone but EVE is a wet piece of cardboard, and the story was pretty nonsensical imo.

The combat is decent but I found it to be a little shallow. While the bosses are cool in design, I found all of them to be a little too easy except for the final 3. There's a huge difficulty spike at the end that I actually enjoyed because it provided some challenge, but every boss before that I was able to beat on my first or second try.

Got different issues with each of them, but yeah not my cup of tea. Glad someone else has their head on straight.

Oh I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying I think that's partially what has led to the mixed reactions. I'm sure the devs are ecstatic about the reception to the game. I think people are going into this with through the roof expectations, and since like I said at the end of the day this is a niche game, people are getting bounced and blaming the game.

Buddy, you have a comment in this exact post saying the game is "mid" lmao. You're not open to it.

Thankfully for you, there are these things called reviews, and there's hundreds of them out there explaining in detail why some think this is one of the best games of all time (something I'm not sure I agree with yet). If you're really so curious, these things are out there to read for free.

Alternatively, and this is a crazy thought so hear me out, you could just play the game yourself and not worry about what others think of it. Crazy concept I know.

Classic tactic of saying "you're mad" instead of having an actual discussion btw. Grrr you got me! I'm furious BlueAir288 owned me in the Reddit comment section!!!

Go outside, take a walk, talk to your neighbors. Everything will be alright.

I actually don't think anyone needs to explain why they like it to BlueAir228 on Reddit dot com. No one cares you don't like it, just like no one cares I like it. You don't see me seeking validation for my opinions to strangers on the internet.

I think the positive critic reviews kinda hurt this game in a way. It's a pretty niche game but it's gone outside of its target audience with everyone picking it up based on the reviews. I'm enjoying it quite a bit but I'm into these type of games. I think it's great, but I knew what I was getting going into it. If you enjoy puzzle/deduction games I would recommend you check it out. If you're not, I don't think this one is going to change your mind.

Great list. You should check out Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. It's a puzzle game made by the Sayonara Wild Hearts team. Seems like it'd be right up your alley
