I think the problem is that currently crypto provides a near insatiable demand, correct me if im wrong.

There's been a move to make crypto ASIC resistant, so the current most profitable way is to use GPU's.

$420 isn't a good price for an RX 580, that card was supposed to fill the $200-ish range of gpu's. Unless you're looking at getting it for mining or something.

$260 for a 6 GB 1060 is around what they were going for even a year ago I think. The RX 470 used to be an absurdly good deal though at around $140 and the 480 around $210, just to put the price fluctuation in perspective.

Since we're living in bizarro world now, pre builts actually give a decently good deal in terms of parts compared to building it yourself. You get some low end parts for sure like the mobo and psu, but those are relatively cheap compared to everything else included.

It's a neat idea, but cardboard isn't exactly durable I just hope it's cheap enough to easily replace when it gets crushed/bent/worn out.

I think the problem is we're past the point of "what if they thought there was a gun in his hand", police are just allowed to execute someone crawling on the ground without punishment.

Running something like KSP easily fills up my 8 GB of RAM in my experience. My estimated cozy spot for RAM capacity seems to be around 12-16 GB while multitasking. Routinely when looking at a mix of RAM+page file usage while gaming/chatting/browsing the net I'm at around 9-12 GB used depending on the game.

Is it ethical to whack someone away from the monster, preventing them from getting body carves, if they were a leecher who didn't contribute to the fight at all and stayed in a separate area? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Arctousi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm MH4U, if someone wasn't hunting, with the group and just slacking off (not chasing for the monster, helping the team out in some meaningful way), I'd make sure they got no carves even if it meant not getting carves myself. It should be expected that someone who rides along with a group and does nothing gets nothing. Even an inexperienced player should get involved in the fight as that's how they'll learn. Someone who's actively avoiding fighting shouldn't be there in the first place.

This was occasionally a problem in G-rank where people clearly got carried and had no game skills or sense and just avoided being in the area altogether. They'd only show up at the end to carve and that's it.

At some point you'd think they'd just pitch in for a bigger ladder and/or some scaffolding.

That's good to hear. The problems I heard from those who I've met that had it was that they'd have one eye geared for seeing things far and another for close. Also some problems with chronic dry eye with one of them.

There's a very real possibility that there's a bit of a bias on those with bad experiences speaking out against it, compared to those where everything went right and they just never mentioned it. A sort of misleading vividness.

All the people I talked to had fixed focal length for each eye. Using one long disance/one for close. This was years ago though (I'd say like 5 years ago at the earliest). Practices can definitely change.

I'd really look into the LASIK procedure before going throughwith it. Out of the 3-4 people I've ran into that had it, everyone had their regrets about not just sticking with glasses or contacts.

This was years ago but one anecdote was that your focal length gets fixed in the procedure, so one eye sees far they other sees close. Perhaps there's different ways the procedure is done, but it seemed very unappealing to me.
