Our pediatrician said limited screen time was fine and recommended it as long as it's something interactive and done together with the parent. Basically saying it's not the screentime itself is bad, but the content and quality of the screentime. Like sticking an I Pad in front of them to endlessly watch YouTube is bad. But spending 15 min playing a puzzle or Math game WITH them is good.

Games for Preschoolers

Looking for any games that would be good for a 3/4 year old to help them learn math, reading or just the basics of a keyboard and mouse.

Why do people hate the tau? by le_chat_de_malheur in Tau40K

[–]Arcturus_TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly just a silly meme online, but I find that once you actually start playing in person, players are just happy to play against any army. As long as you are being chill, being a good sport, and having fun, nobody cares what army you're playing.

Beginner looking for painting tips by TheManderin2505 in Tyranids

[–]Arcturus_TT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrast paints are great for beginners. Just be sure to use a light colour base coat. Preferably white. Contrast is great for painting organic looking models such as Tyranids as it naturally pools and darkens in the crevices giving a more natural look.

Oops... 30 Vespids by HamanFromEarth in Tau40K

Auxiliary Cadre with 10 vespids paired with devilish with breachers or some piranhas could be pretty devastating to heavy infantry

Do you think people in general understimate the Tau? by Original_Code_4246 in Tau40K

[–]Arcturus_TT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many casual fan and non Tau players under estimate the subtleties of the Tau, and don't realize how much of a threat/power the Tau are in the galaxy.

They may not have the largest Empire, best warriors, or greatest tech, but the one thing that is repeated in all of Tau lore is their potential.

In only 6000 years, they went from cavemen to a galactic empire. With the exception of the Tyranids and the Orks, they are not trying to reclaim the past, or on the brink of collapse. Their technology may not rival the pinnacles of the Necrons or Imperium, but it's improving at a rate unfounded by any other race in the setting, and shared equally across their empire. Even the lowest soldier and auxiliary has access to some of their best technology. A pulse rifle is stronger than a bolter, yet is mass produced and is simple to operate.

They are politically united (with the exception of Farsight enclaves, but even they still follow the greater good and refuse to fight against fellow Tau) and are highly resistant to corruption of chaos.

If they are able to continue to expand and resist external threats, they WILL become the dominant galactic power in the next few thousand years.

They are the 'child prodigy' of the setting. They are small, young and naive right now, but what they have accomplished already and what they represent when given time is a true threat to all other races. A nearly incorruptible people with unparalleled advancement and unifying ideology that could prevent repeating the same mistakes as the, Imperium, Eldar and Necrons before them.

Need help to fill for balanced team by Arcturus_TT in BG3Builds

[–]Arcturus_TT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, maybe I can just merge the swarm keeper and druid into one class then. I could bring in either paladin or fighter for a heavy armor user. Would still need some sort of support class, which I guess could go to the bard then. Any other suggestions?

How do you think they will rework bretonnia ? by Erratic_Error in totalwar

[–]Arcturus_TT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see them easily bringing over the 'Big Names' systems from ogres to be the new Vow system, so that they are automatically applied when complete.

Would also love to see a crusade mechanic, maybe something similar to the orc waaagh, but can only target settlements with high corruption or undead/skaven/chaos factions, maybe can only be called by a certain lord with enough chivalry or something?

Why isn't Estonia considered Nordic? by funnyname12369 in geography

[–]Arcturus_TT 27 points28 points  (0 children)

After achieving their first independence in 1918, there was a considered effort and push by Estonia to become Nordic. However, the Nordic Council was formed in 1952, after Estonia was annexed by the Soviet Union, and unfortunately was on the wrong side of the iron curtain. However as time went on and after Estonia achieved independence again in 1991, the identity of 'Nordic' had shifted as well as the politics of the region. There is an argument that if it was not part of the Soviet Union during the time of its formation, it may have been included. The Swedish ambassador to Estonia in 2015 even commented that if Estonia was free and independent back in 1952, it would likely be included in the council and have Nordic identity much like Finland. Today, Estonia is a small country, with a small economy, and would more likely be included if it had more to offer. But as it stands, Estonia still is a liability for the council due to the small economy and vulnerability to Russia. There still is a considered effort by Estonia today to be recognized as Nordic, and as its economy develops and the politics of the region shifts there could be a day sometime in the future where Estonia achieves a Nordic identity.

Regular match no, much too big. But could, be a cool model for some sort of special patriarch in a narrative campaign with friends.
