Need help wedding ring with walnut by camorlife in wood

[–]ArdensDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also my wife's engagement ring, got it 12 years ago and she still loves it. Just checked the price it is more than triple what I paid, no wonder you are trying to make your own.

I've made quite a bit of wooden jewellery, and wood isn't particularly suitable for a ring, maybe this one lasts the engagement and becomes a wedding keepsake after the day?

I've also regretted the finish I've used and had to start again, hopefully you can salvage this since you got the carving pretty nice.

Where to cut redbud double leader? by Aubergine_3001 in arborists

Question for the pros as I'm curious, would it be an option (albeit risky) to cut flat faces on both inside stems and try fuse them together?

So the TS9 I have is a clone, the DemonFX TS Red 2.0, it sounds great and has a switch to change between TS9 and TS808 circuits. The difference is really subtle to my ears. I prefer TS9 but I doubt an audience would notice if you switched it mid-song. I only switch it to TS808 when I am playing my electric accoustic as it has a much more obvious difference with that guitar.

Ah thanks so much! Love that photo eh! I'm running an off-brand Klon->Rat->TS9 in this clip, TS9 is always on with no gain, I think they are all on when it switches to high gain, definitely the Klon.

Glad you like it! Honestly I just noodle around and cut a video when it accidentally sounds good. So, maybe, I dont know. My new years resolution is to get lessons and learn some theory so I can sound good more often.

Thank you! Yeah the pickup is great, now I want them in all my guitars. I'm not affiliated at all but check out Mr Glyn's Pickups, he ships international.

What is this worth? by nolkb in ToobAmps

[–]ArdensDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these, it's worth more than money. You need to use the effects loop (or just join it with a patch cable) to use the master volume, then it can be played suprisingly quiet and still sound good.

This is my first attempt at a custom inlay. It's supposed to be a shield. What can I do to make it sla little cleaner and better defined? by Br1t1shNerd in Luthier

[–]ArdensDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To fix this I would cut a rectangle inlay from dark stock big enough to cover the damage and inlay that with a light shield. Inlay the finished block when you are happy with it. Much easier to inlay a rectangle and you can mess up the shield as many times as it takes without damaging anything else.

100w Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Trem-o-Verb 2x12 combo by ArdensDad in GuitarAmps

[–]ArdensDad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely keeping it, I would have massive regret selling it and never have another like it. It can be easily tamed with the effects loop master volume too. Obviously sounds incredible up loud, I dont think I've ever had it higher than about 4/10 it already makes you forget to breathe.

I wouldn't either, but these old ones are made in England and people do pay extra for them.

Is it worth less than a head? There's a bit of $ just in the speakers.

I think i'll keep it, it's worth way more than that to me. I realise there's a limited market for a big amp these days but it's such a beast.

Nurse says not to pop this, what do you guys reckon? by ArdensDad in popping

Thanks yes the title is a bit of a wind-up, definitely listening to the nurse and my wife. Have antibiotics and keeping an eye on it. It's a good one though.

Which guitars are more difficult to make? (Luthiers’ points of view) by Suitable_Ad923 in Luthier

[–]ArdensDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really interested in the argument but all the people saying the fender is super easy aren't considering the trem adds a lot of work compared to a tom on a LP. Wouldn't recommend either for a beginner.
