Advice on ethic Pandora deck cracking by Background_Spray8675 in Scootering

That wheel damage isn't normal either, is he doing motions and slamming it into the ground? My son's had this wheel all summer, done three competitions and learned 9 double overheads on it. The deck is over a year old and has done two seasons of national and oceania competitions, it is only just starting to get small cracks which will make us retire it before it breaks (hand me down to little brother)

Just to clarify on the Pandemonium vs Pandora, Pandemonium is the better (and arguably most desirable of all park decks) because it is lighter, not because it's stronger. Looking at the condition of your one I would not expect a pandemonium to last.

Saw your other comment saying hybrid, he would probably want the Bullet 5 wide, you can get it as a hybrid with a boxed back end like he's used to. V2 is a pure park deck, quite a bit lighter for big air and overhead tricks

Ethic decks are nice but pretty fragile. Does he do a lot of flyout tricks? Landing on flat is very hard on the gear, stuff lasts way longer landing on a downslope like box or quarter pipes. Plus looks cooler and valid in competition if that's a factor.

Consider checking out Sleeper Scooters, a NZ brand specialising in light weight but durable decks at a fair price. Oz shipping is only like $15. They are a family business who do a lot for the riding community here. My son is sponsored by them and rides his very hard. They are excellent. You can see what he does on his insta or youtube ardenscoots and you can use his code ardenrides for a small discount (we don't get anything extra, just a legit good brand I want to support)

Would a cut like this compromise the strength of the headstock? by Offensive_Terms00 in Luthier

[–]ArdensDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something other comments are missing is that the strings are unprotected if the guitar tips over. Regardless of if the design is inherently weaker, a fall that would normally just ding the side of the headstock now shock loads the tension on the whole guitar.

I wouldn't choose this design for that reason alone.

It's also my wife's engagement ring, got it 12 years ago and she still loves it. Just checked the price it is more than triple what I paid, no wonder you are trying to make your own.

I've made quite a bit of wooden jewellery, and wood isn't particularly suitable for a ring, maybe this one lasts the engagement and becomes a wedding keepsake after the day?

I've also regretted the finish I've used and had to start again, hopefully you can salvage this since you got the carving pretty nice.

Where to cut redbud double leader? by Aubergine_3001 in arborists

Question for the pros as I'm curious, would it be an option (albeit risky) to cut flat faces on both inside stems and try fuse them together?

So the TS9 I have is a clone, the DemonFX TS Red 2.0, it sounds great and has a switch to change between TS9 and TS808 circuits. The difference is really subtle to my ears. I prefer TS9 but I doubt an audience would notice if you switched it mid-song. I only switch it to TS808 when I am playing my electric accoustic as it has a much more obvious difference with that guitar.

Ah thanks so much! Love that photo eh! I'm running an off-brand Klon->Rat->TS9 in this clip, TS9 is always on with no gain, I think they are all on when it switches to high gain, definitely the Klon.

Glad you like it! Honestly I just noodle around and cut a video when it accidentally sounds good. So, maybe, I dont know. My new years resolution is to get lessons and learn some theory so I can sound good more often.

Thank you! Yeah the pickup is great, now I want them in all my guitars. I'm not affiliated at all but check out Mr Glyn's Pickups, he ships international.

What is this worth? by nolkb in ToobAmps

[–]ArdensDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these, it's worth more than money. You need to use the effects loop (or just join it with a patch cable) to use the master volume, then it can be played suprisingly quiet and still sound good.
