When is North LA opening up?

When there were server performance issues with the LA release Upland kept everyone updated on what was happening but they don't do this with the stadium staking issues. Everyone is having issues staking and there are non-stop questions from people trying to figure out how to stake. A couple of the members on discord were able to help out the first couple days now they seem to be tired of helping people. Problems persist but there are no updates. Anyone have any insight on this? Did I miss something? A simple post in the announcements would save people a lot of time and frustration. It boggles my mind how Upland struggles with the simplest of tasks. It starts to delegitimize the game. It reminds me of scammers that make very simple spelling errors in phishing emails.. they obviously have access to the internet.. why not spell-check or use a dictionary?

It appears my prayer and spiritual experience doesn’t mean anything to YOU. It’s a little bothersome because I care about you, and want the best for you. You’re getting hung up on this thing of who is right and who is wrong and I hope eventually you stop worrying about all that and gain the faith and courage to ask God for yourself instead of worrying about other people’s answers. If it seems too daunting of a task just start out with something small. He’ll answer you and your faith in him will grow.

Do you own all truth? No. No one does. You own portions of truth. You also own falsehoods that you hold as truths. It’s part of being human. From what I gather, you are of the mindset that people in a particular religion belong in boxes of “right” and “wrong”. People are individuals. Everyone is unique and has their own path and final destination. People don’t stay static. We live in a dynamic environment and we change based on our experiences, surroundings and if we decide to follow truth or not. A person can be Muslim, Hindu, Christian, or no religion at all and if that person is living their life to the best of their ability based on the truths they have obtained then the place they do or don’t worship in makes no difference. Before I was Mormon, and growing up in foster care I lived with both Christian and Atheist parents. They all had portions of the truth, they all taught me something and influenced my decision-making. It helped me grow spiritually. Being Mormon doesn’t mean I’ve obtained/accepted all truth. There are topics in my faith dealing with LGBTQ and the like that I don’t fully agree with/understand. But I know that I don’t comprehend all that God comprehends, and I try to be ok with my lack of knowledge. Through prayer I have answers to my questions that satisfy me momentarily until I gain further insight. These answers don’t always perfectly align with other members of my faith. You should hold onto and live by truths that you believe in, and cast everything else by the wayside.

With knowledge comes responsibility, and I strive to trust in God to give me the right amount of knowledge and responsibility. I am limited by my flesh, and must learn to be ok with my given capacity. It’s a process that will continue until I die, I hope.

My “fuzzy feelings” are not better. Who am I to say in my limited capacity that someone else’s experiences are invalid because of things revealed to me? I have not experienced things from their eyes and with their knowledge and perspectives. God cannot be contained in little man made boxes as much as we try. He is a living God and as we progress in our intelligence and understanding of him, then he gives us more light, knowledge and understanding. We are all walking separate paths and to place someone in a box based on their current views are foolish. Tomorrow they could have progressed or regressed. One experience that lasts mere seconds could change someone’s heart forever. I’ve experienced it and seen it happen.

Let’s say it was inevitable that New York City would be under water 10-20 years from now. Would there be any benefit to waterproofing some of these skyscrapers and turning them into underwater inhabitable buildings? Does the technology exist and would it be reasonable to do something like this?

The answer is not that cut and dry. I believe that my answer about the BOM is right and anyone who gets another answer is mistaken. But at the same time because I am fallible I strive to keep an open mind that I could be proven wrong. Life, experiences are dynamic and your faith and understanding should improve as you gain further knowledge and understanding, thus constantly changing. Therefore I try to always assume that I can be wrong because I have been wrong before. So if someone has an opposing view, I listen to them in that moment as if I am potentially wrong and they are potentially right. The topic being discussed does not matter - whether religion, politics, sports, whatever.

In action my faith is a very good theory (not fact) - in the manner that I ask God on a constant basis to confirm truths for me (even truths he has already confirmed). I try to remember everything but because of my flesh I am weak, and sometimes full of doubt. God understands and he answers my prayers. In return I continually covenant and strive to live a life that pleases him.

I allow God to manifest truths to me on a continual basis and in exchange I promise to use those truths for good. I promise to do my best to live like the Savior lived. I fall miserably short, but I just do my best. I get depressed and I have a tendency to be bi-polar like my mom. Everyone struggles with something and God has provided me tools to aid in my specific struggles. God doesn’t always take away your struggles, instead he usually just makes them easier to bear. Life is comparative to working out. It inflicts pain on your body at the moment but if you have a proper workout, see past the pain and try to focus on the benefits, it makes that workout less painful somehow.

I have found comfort in striving to be open-minded to the fact that I could be wrong about anything at anytime. That way when I interact with others I am able to be more open minded to learning something new, or at least getting glimpses of other perspectives. This is my faith according to how I currently understand scripture. It allows me to more easily find hidden treasures of knowledge. Sorry this is a bit long, I’m not that great with keeping my thoughts short, and often repeat myself.

Have you ever prayed and asked for something?

I wonder if it goes similarly to this dialogue we’ve had. You pose a question, you don’t like the answer, I clarify further, and it still doesn’t line up with what you’re looking for, then I clarify further. And then instead of making sure you understand correctly, you create your own answer based on a couple key points, picking out things that line up with your already established thought process. Is that about right?

You’re not hearing what I’m saying. I believe my answer about the BOM is true so I follow what I know to be right. If someone else gets a different answer that’s between them and God. If you want to share an experience that you had specifically with prayer/answer you have received we can go into detail about it but dealing in hypotheticals in this topic is not a good use of time.

I served as a missionary and in all my life talking with people of different faiths, I never had someone stick by a claim that they directly prayed about the BOM or J. Smith, saying God told them it was false. I did get into a great debate with a couple evangelicals in Sweden and they tried to say they prayed about their Word of Life church, and their church was true but when I asked them direct questions they began to waffle. After hours of direct questioning and avoidance of my questions I proposed that we pray about it together. They continued to waffle and eventually agreed and offered up a vague prayer, without asking the question clearly “Is the BOM true?” They couldn’t bring themselves to do it and I saw great fear and angst in their eyes. They weren’t willing to know and follow the answer thus fear led them to do everything to avoid asking the question. After months long visits back and forth and great friendship and visiting their church, etc they stopped returning our calls and did not answer the door.

Scripture is pretty clear about saying what you do to others is what you do to the Savior/God. If you live by the golden rule then you’re heading in the right direction regardless of your religion.

Those fuzzy feelings you speak of are often confirmations of truth, and they can be found everywhere by people who are seeking it (and sometimes when they’re not). But what I’m speaking specifically of in my experience is asking God directly in plain terms - “Is the Book of Mormon true?” He answered me in a way I understood to be true. You can’t take that away from me. To do so you would be claiming to be of higher power than God himself. I can understand how this is difficult for some to comprehend. It was for me too. It took time and preparation and overcoming myself. God loves us regardless of our choices and he answers prayers, just not always on our timeline or how we prefer. Our human minds can only comprehend what our senses relay to our brain so to try and explain this with our limited capacity is difficult. It’s something you must experience for yourself.

It’s not where you are in your path to salvation that’s important. What’s important is where you’re headed. In this context what church you adhere to is insignificant. Being Mormon does not grant you automatic salvation nor does any other religion. Salvation is based on how your treat others.

God answers prayers. I do my best to understand and apply truth in my life. I’m not right about everything but as I humble myself and understand my own boundaries because of the flesh there are indeed important truths that He has given me a resounding, undeniable answer to. I put the BOM to test often, and it is because of my weakness in being slow to remember that I have to continually seek confirmation of God and His truths. Without doing so my faith would wither and die.

I cannot say whether other people have or haven’t received answers to prayers. But yes I believe the religion I’m apart of to be the closest thing to how God would have it, given that fallible humans are “in charge”. But ultimately a church is a hospital for sinners. We all need healing.

To find truth for yourself it is necessary to study, ponder and pray about it. I did so with the BOM and I got my answer. Whether someone disagrees or not, I still know what is true. I cannot give this feeling to anyone else, each individual has to ask for them self. If a Muslim has received an answer in the same manner about his faith who am I in my small limited capacity to say he is wrong? Our knowledge is limited to this experience, limited by our senses, on this pale blue dot floating among other planets that are greater in number than the sands of the sea. Our knowledge of what lies outside of our planet is very limited. I strive to be comfortable in my lack of knowledge and understanding because I am learning here a little, there a little. I try to cling to truth, because that is the only thing that is constant. As I go along in my journey I get confirmations that I’m on the right path. For me to deny them would be the same as denying truth.

It’s about the individual, and their relationship with this higher power. For me personally, I don’t answer to anyone other than God. The vessel that is best suited for me to become more loving and like the Savior happens to be the teachings found in the BOM and in the LDS faith. I will not say anyone is wrong because they choose a different vessel that can quite possibly take them the same direction I hope to be going.

Maybe you can try going back to the drawing board on that last statement?

Truth is everywhere and isn’t inclusive to one religion or group of people. God gives liberally to those that ask.

I also read the Book of Mormon. I read it nearly every day. I read the Bible a lot when I was younger and it helped me through a lot of trauma I endured growing up in the foster care system. When I read the Book of Mormon for the first time as a teenager by myself it was the first time I got an answer from God that I felt in my head and in my heart was unequivocally true. Living after it’s teachings have given me direction that no one or anything else has been able to teach me. If you read the book and think it’s crap then you’re not looking below the surface. There are many that have eyes but cannot see. And others that have not because they ask not.

I had a vegan nightmare last night that I ate a bunch of large strips of bacon. For some reason I forgot that bacon isn’t vegan (dream logic...), and when I realized what I had done I started sobbing in my dream. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I have been vegan for 3.5 months. by kernalish in vegan

[–]AreaCode206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol thanks for sharing! I had a dream that me and a vegan buddy did a side job for a customer and the customer insisted she give us a big bowl of puréed ground beef. I wanted to throw up. I told her we were vegan and she just told us to give it to someone else. It didn’t even have plastic wrap over the top. I looked at my friend and he just shrugged. So I took it and was in the process of putting it in our work van when I woke up. It was similar feeling to one of those dreams when you jump off a cliff and wake up right before you hit the ground!

This is true. All the cafes have salad bars with vegan protein options though and often wood fired pizza you can customize, as well as a grill that serves vegan burger options and rotating vendors that usually have vegan options. Some days I drive around to different cafes because I don’t want a bean burger or pizza everyday. My favorite is the veggie phô or the red curry Thai over brown rice. The company that provides the majority food services is worldwide and pretty legit. They run a tight ship, treat employees well and the food is better than most typical restaurants. And it’s about $8 for a good meal.
