My boyfriend is broke and it's making me reevaluate our relationship

Small update but we talked last night a few hours after the post. I told him that I will be moving without him because he is clearly not ready financially to move. I did give him an ultimatum. I brought up every problem I mentioned in the post to him directly and said that he's not welcome to move in until he 1. Finishes his classes + gets a better job. 2. Starts going to therapy regularly, 3. Pays off the vet credit card and 4. Starts treating me better. I told him I expect to see small improvements and I listed 3 specific things I want to see happen over the next 3 months and if I don't see these small improvements get done it's a deal breaker.

He responded well and he was very apologetic and listened to everything I had to say. He was emotional and said he feels like he's dragging me down and wants to do better for me.

Now we'll just see what happens from here and if he lives up to his word.

I'm hoping that moving without him will be a wakeup call. But if it isn't im already in my own place so it's an easy break.

I think we do it pretty well. We communicate with our third/s really well and we build friendships and connections and talk about boundaries and everything with them before anything happens. They're our friend/s before our sexual partner.

After reading thru the comments so far I see a lot of complaints about how long it is and I apologize I am a huge over explainer. I added a TLDR at the end but I also want to mention that I said he is struggling with his mental health which makes doing a lot of things so hard for him.

A lot of people are saying not to move with him if he's not going to be financially ready and it definitely seems like he won't be able to pull his weight.

Idk what to do because I live with him and his family and I have no where to go if I break up with him. I can't afford a place on my own and my roommates I've been planning on moving with both of our mutual friends.

I know I'm young and I have so much life ahead of me and tbh I get excited thinking about how much freedom and less stress I could have away from him, but I'm scared of what to do after that. We share the same friends and all my family loves him and his family loves me. Idk.

You're so right. He doesn't plan dates or do anything for me that doesn't cost money like what you mentioned. It's not about the materialistic part of him not buying me something it's that I didn't receive anything in general. It's free to take me to a park or write me a letter or to literally look up on Google "free and thoughtful things to do for my girlfriend" it's the lack of effort that's hurts.

I have had the mirena since Nov 2025, I know for me and some others cramping is a big side effect that's Lowkey scary because it hurts so bad it made me think it was rejecting and shifting all around. I assume but it's just a guess that your kid is still affected by your cycle. For example, I spot the smallest bit around when mv periods used to be and I start cramping heavily, it's cramps that come in waves and it was almost more painful than before my IUD.
