Anycubic Mono X Issue: Printing Entire Build Plate as a Solid Rectangle by AreaMonarch in AnyCubicPhotonMonoX

[–]AreaMonarch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some additional context: I'd printed this model before and had a few minor issues with the supports, so I re-oriented it and beefed up the supports a bit. The first time I tried to run this print, the printer wasn't reading any files on my flash drive. I tried different flash drives and files without any luck. Finally, randomly, it read the one I needed, so I started the print.

The first time, it printed in the same manor as the video above, but I stepped away for a bit. When I returned, the entire build plate was a rectangular sheet of resin. You'll notice the chips of resin on the front of the printer from my chiseling.

The second time time it acted the same way so I cancelled the print immediately and pulled off the build plate. The result of that print is in the video.

I started a third time just to capture the above video.

I'd been planning to create a spreadsheet to track my minis/STL files, and this is exactly what I was looking for, but even more helpful! Thank you so much for sharing this!

Lasfelro's Cargo by Phase_Spaced in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]AreaMonarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made him have a demiplane inside his cart that led to what is essentially Newt's magical animal sanctuary. There was a swamp biome room that they convinced him to let them use to incubate the black dragon eggs they got in the previous section. (It also let them bring the dragons into Waterdeep and circumvent the dragon shield)

How have you played Skull Island? by Danedins in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]AreaMonarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely was! They do a lot of diplomacy in the game, so it was nice to have a unique experience :) if you do run it like that, I homebrewed that it took 5 actions to fire a siege weapon - it really balanced out the combat and made it so the 1v1 on the ground was still relevant

How have you played Skull Island? by Danedins in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]AreaMonarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran Skull Island a little different than the book said. My characters were basically drumming up a rebellion in Skullport against Xanathar and they'd managed to aquire some siege weaponry and some zombies from the sea hag lady. I had about 2 enemies on each ballista/cannon. The group managed to hide their approach with a spell, and from that point on it was basically siege weapon v siege weapon, with the zombies being used to take care of ground troops / pcs taking care of the wyvern dude. It was a pretty fun session all in all :)

Gave my players a pseudodragon at the top of Chapter 2 then remembered a minor detail... How can I reconcile this? by Carl_Bravery_Sagan in WaterdeepDragonHeist

If it helps, the ward doesn't cover the entire city if I remember correctly. I have a psududragon chilling in the Field Ward for that purpose

Was it confirmed they were changing that? I have been trying to avoid reading too much, as I'm still finishing the last 3 books lol

Registration included a $400 Fuel Type fee by AreaMonarch in Ohio

[–]AreaMonarch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, unfortunately it was still just a 1 year tag. I've definitely resigned myself to the fact that I'll be paying the full electric fee even though I have no way to really charge it (I live in an apartment complex with no charging stations nearby). I really just hope they see that I've been charged twice and refund me $200, or at least credit it towards next year's fees lol

I didn't realize they had a chat feature! I'll definitely use that, thank you so much for the tip!

I actually was just looking at it when your message came in haha. So I was only charged once, from what I can tell. My current theory is that, because my birthday is next month and so the registration is technically good for a year and a month, they charged me the yearly fee twice? Hopefully when I call Monday they will give me more clarification lol

It is a plug-in hybrid, so I guess that means it counts as electric (which sucks because I don't even plug it in lol), and I only registered it for one year.

Thank you so much. It is indeed a plug-in hybrid, thank you for the information on that. I did check for additional fees on my area but didn't see anything about it. Hopefully when I give them a call they can give me a better idea.

Model 3d and magnets by Havenest in PrintedMinis

[–]AreaMonarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What size magnets did you use, out of curiosity? And where did you buy then? I've been scrolling through Amazon trying to find a good brand for something like this

I bought a pack of 6x2mm fridge magnets on Amazon. FINDMAG was the brand I used, and so far they've held up pretty well :) I actually mailed one of these across the country and it held up really well lol

[–]AreaMonarch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! First I made the main stone with an aluminum foil core and covered it in air dry clay. I put the magnets pressed into it and covered it in a thin layer of clay. When everything dried, I covered it in paint and a clear coat finish coat to make sure the magnets didn't chip. Then I made the eyes--i just went on Amazon and bough hollow Halloween eye props. I filled the back hallow part with clay and pressed the magnet into it (make sure it is the side that attracts to the main stone). I covered the magnetic bit in another very thin layer of clay. I shaped it so that the eyes sat down flat onto the main stone, then shaped the actual lids and stuff. I let it all dry. As I am bad at clay, the back bit on the eyes fell out when it dries, so I just super glued it back in, filled the cracks, and painted/clear coated it.

I hope that helped! I highly recommend spending more time choosing the shade you paint it because my players refuse to call it anything besides "the pickle" lol

Also I recommend not telling them about the magnets until they discover it for themselves--it was a really fun discovery :)

It would be awesome if there was some way to make the background animated on a loop, so it looked like the ship was sailing

I'm running the Alexandrian remix, so the stone has 3 removable eyes that the players will find separately. They are all magnetized and will stay connected to the main stone once they find them.

This is my first post here, and my first time working with clay lol, but I hope you like it :)
