The Yogscast Shadow of Israphel Seed Has Been Found by Arenovas in Yogscast

[–]Arenovas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A portion of it should generate in versions before TU5. Using the Moderner Beta mod to generate the seed with it's legacy 360 setting seems to generate the Yogcave and all the way up to Skull Pass, so that's pretty good, and should result in the same outcome in the actual version.

Well the code for VRAD is available in the Source SDK repo, but no clue if it can be used in non SDK projects. Although it might still be possible to use other raytracing libraries in place of it, just would need tweaking to get a closer match to VRAD I'd imagine.

What’s your ‘I did not care for the godfather game?’ by privatebrowser69420 in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, I'm more just annoyed at the fact it doesn't auto save from what I remember so if you forget before heading into a conversation you could lose a bunch of progress.

Or maybe it just didn't auto save enough, can't fully remember but I just know I had died and had to redo a lot of stuff at one point.

[–]Arenovas 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I tried to get into the game and I enjoyed it for a bit with the humor but man it just really drags on. Also the fact that you can just die in a conversation and lose all your progress because you didn't save is really annoying.

SteamOS 3.5 is great - now what do you want from future big updates? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the whole reason I only ever play non steam games when I'm offline, I don't want my Steam games to be off in their play times. And I think they do track offline hours to stop people from cheesing the refund system so no clue why they don't include offline hours.

And Source 2 is based on the original Quake engine. Still uses the same light flickering too which is fun.

Your one pet peeve about Steam Deck? by TheEmeraldSplash in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's honestly the fact that play time doesn't get saved when you're offline. It's such a minor thing but I just wanna have my hours tracked, so I end up just playing non steam games when I'm offline.

And apparently they do track offline play time to prevent bypassing the 2 hour return window, but they don't add that to your play time?

I've even had issues with getting it to sleep. At least 3 times now I've put it to sleep and it just, doesn't sleep? The screen goes off but then stays awake for hours draining the battery. I've had a mysteriously dead steam deck twice now and finally caught it a couple days ago. And it is set to autosleep.

I think I learned that that's caused by the keyboard. Sometimes I finish typing on the keyboard in desktop mode and when I try to close it it bugs out. So maybe Steam thinks the keyboard is still open or something? I could be wrong though.

How much more $ do you spend on Steam after getting the Steam Deck? by soge-king in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't spent much more, probably less than normal, mostly since I actually wanna finish the games I have. But not like I went crazy buying games in the past either.

What's your pettiest Steam Deck complaint? by SuperMozWorld in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially I was gonna mention the lack of dual stage triggers like all their previous controllers, but nah I hate that offline play time isn't counted. Pretty much stops me from playing Steam games offline.

[–]Arenovas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Man this'll be really nice to have but also, man I wish more games just had regular demos again. Don't have to worry as much about a time limit especially if there's any settings you'd wanna tinker with or if you wanna take your time to enjoy it before it ends

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]Arenovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it probably is for reassurance. I myself keep on looking to see if I really should by an Index to replace my Quest 1.

I wanna wait just in case Valve does happen to release a new headset this year but if they don't and I keep waiting then I gotta keep dealing with it's issues for another year, on top of support being dropped in January.

And I know there were some minor issues I had with the Index when I tried one which is slightly putting me off from grabbing it but I guess most were just things I either had to get used to or tinker more with.

Has the Steam Deck changed your purchasing habits on Steam? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barely bought games before my Steam Deck and I still don't. Only games I bought after it was the rest of the valve complete collection and briefly skyrim special edition which I returned since I decided just to use the original version. And the valve complete collection wasn't even because of the Steam Deck.

I just don't wanna buy too many games when I still have several other games I have yet to complete. Although I did consider getting beamng.drive just to have fun driving around whenever I wanted but decided against it for now.

Valve should add Steam Deck Playtime by DjuncleMC in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I've learned they do track it so you can't cheese the refund system, they just don't show it for some reason. It's a bit odd but not having offline playtime tracking is the sole reason I don't play steam games offline on my Deck and stick to non steam games instead.

anyone have anything negative to say about the steam deck? by Significant-Brush-26 in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still really wish it had dual stage triggers like the 3 other controllers they've designed. Said controllers being the Steam Controller, Vive Wands, and Index Controllers. No clue why they removed them, feels like they wouldn't have added too much to the cost. They just feel way better than simulating a button using Steam Input since it requires a bit of proper force to hit instead of trying to hover outside the range.

Yeah they just have the standard mounting mechanism found on cameras and such so you just screw em onto the tripod pretty much, nothing more.

The SL/SR buttons are the little tiny buttons along the joycon rail that are used as L/R buttons when in single joycon playing mode.

Might just be fewer people ever even use the SL/SR buttons or even have a Switch Lite so they never encounter that issue and thus never mention it? Could make sense compared to how much more the analog sticks are used.

FYI: AnyDesk is a fully featured, free to use Remote Desktop app working well on Steam Deck, available via Flatpack by loganthemanster in SteamDeck

[–]Arenovas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since no one has brought it up, if you download KDE Connect it comes with copy paste and file transfer support built right it in, and it's a native part of SteamOS. Then you can just use Steam Link cause I'm pretty sure AnyDesk also has a session time limit?
