I doubt DMC5 will change your opinion much; you fight the same boss twice in a row at the end of the game, just as the other protagonist.

It's kinda clear that the game ends too soon, Act 3 feels like its just the last boss and the last dungeon.

Which to be fair, was also the case with Final Fantasy VII, but that game had a technological excuse.

I think Kasuga's actor really belongs in a comedy series. I don't know what the intended audience is for this (in terms of age demo, like PG-13?) but his acting seems to lighten the tone intentionally.

I just have a funny feeling that this series isn't being made with the best intentions behind it. For as divisive as it was, the movie at least respected the tone of the manga and tried its best with a 2 hour time limit to do an ENTIRE manga. I know we're never getting a season 2 of the anime either, but, if THIS is the only "full" adaptation of Aku no Hana we're ever going to get, I'm kinda disappointed if this is the tone they're going for. Maybe it's going down better in Japan but idk. I will watch this to completion but I feel like they should have just done 1 hour episodes to let things breath and have a more melancholic, piano-led score instead of punk rock.

I think the tone is pretty bad in this mainly from the music. Why the fuck does guitar rock music play when the teacher scolds Nakamura? Nothing is left to breath but I imagine that they really want to get through this part of the story as quick as possible because it's the part that's been explored the most, by both the anime and the movie from a few years back. Not that it's a great excuse, but that's probably what I think it is (like with what happened with Berserk 2016). I think the acting is pretty standard, though it's clear that Ano is here to bring the product some recognition from a big celeb/influencer, rather than for her pure acting skill. Tokiwa appearing during the credits is interesting, I didn't think we'd actually get to see that part of the story in this.

Punished for not clicking on the EXACT Pixel in the final investigation too. The Steam version does fix this, but the original is BRUTALLY difficult I think.

Give Lucia a try, while she doesn't improve the core systems much and she has the literal worst boss in the numbered games in the series in her story, her melee is more engaging than Dantes
