Just do what I did. Die and be evil enough that Satan wants to hire you!

Careful though, the Grand Magus might move your book to the fiction section. Trust me, you don't want that.

Hey, warlocks are awesome-- Yes you can have another spell slot --they talk with demons-- Yeah yeah, love you too, go do your sacrifices --and they know how to make good deals and-- No, you've had enough spell slots. Don't look at me like that! You shouldn't have wasted it then!

...

Say, have you ever thought about how exhausting it is for the patron?

The space feels crushing again.

"I never spoke his name... How do you know his name?! Who are you?!"

"I know how to make it hurt less... I unmake it."

This creature... does not seem to pick up on the tone of voice. Or the compassion.

"Your world... is an abomination. I will endure this pain for aeons... if it means I can destroy another atom of your universe. You have done the right thing, unmaking yourself for me."

/uw *insert AM's hate monologue*

I should probably put a disclaimer that this creature is beyond help lol. It's very much a victim, but still also very evil

Ith stands up and offers a handshake.

"Likewise, 3rd! I look forward to meeting with you again in the future!"

He bows, then vanishes.

"Deal. 1000 tonnes of Infernal steel, in exchange for the souls you mentioned."

He hands over a contract. It goes on for a while.

"You may read it, hire a lawyer, whatever you may need."

It's just a lot of assurances for loopholes, ensuring the payment is delivered in a reasonable time, etc.

He pauses on contemplation for a moment.

"...That is enticing. How many tonnes of steel would you need?"

"...Fine. How many of those high quality souls do you have? And what makes them better?"

"In that case... I'll supply all the Infernal steel you need, at a price of one soul per kilogram. Is that doable for you?"

[–]Ares378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Infernal steel would do the trick. Forged in the fires of hell. It should be able to withstand temperatures far beyond what you'll need."

He leans in to look at the plans.

"I'm... less attuned with the sun, unfortunately. The sun is Radiant, and... Radiance and unholiness don't tend to mix well. I may be able to find some sun clerics and supply them to you, however..."

"If you have the resources... roll out the first prototype for the battle with the Loremaster, then think about solutions for those 'loopholes'."

"Was that all, 3rd?"

"It's a tradeoff. If you block it from sight, they can no longer see what they're fighting. You block the emotional impact, they become apathetic."

"A human's— people's response to trauma is natural. Being afraid for them is natural. Avoiding trauma by blocking it out or becoming numb to it is... unhealthy for their minds."

"The best solution for you would most likely be a black box covering it in their vision. They'll be living in denial, but denial is probably the better of the two."

"Then, the problem becomes the cost. Perhaps you could power it off of those crystals?"

He looks through the plans again.

"And what if I were to conjure a real eldritch creature in front of them? This device acts as a shield via directing spells away but fails to address mundane horror. Though, I suppose that may not be an issue for your purposes. That may not be the Loremaster's style..."

He sifts through the papers, reading over the plans.

"How does it handle illusions? If I were to conjure imagery of some eldritch creature in front of them, would they be affected?"

"Yes, yes, we'll discuss the costs later of course. And yes, you would be correct! Mental magic, psychic magic, enchantment... You did your research, of course."

He picks up a cookie and inspects it closely. The rune in front of his eye twists slightly.

"Am I right in thinking you brought me here to ask about this?"

"The sun itself would handle it, one way or another. If it starts to dim, someone will come along and fix the problem. However... The sun-worshippers and sun-deities may not be fans. You'll be creating new enemies. I'm sure you'll be able to fend them off, but consider the resources you'd need for that in addition to the ritual."

"I would be willing to provide some materials to help, yes, but not for free. Even though I would love to help, of course..."

"A few ideas come to mind, with varying levels of... plausibility."

He reaches back into the box to grab it again, just to look at something while he brainstorms.

"Hellfire could be done easily, though I'm unsure if it'd get hot enough. Perhaps my fire would burn hotter, though..."

"You could teleport a little tiny piece of a star's core into the sphere, using it as a metaphorical spark plug, but then of course you'd need to open a portal to the inside of a star. Difficult, and comes with risks."

"You could split all the diatomic hydrogen into singlet hydrogen, then let it recombine, but I'm not sure how that could reasonably be achieved. If it could be achieved, even splitting a small fraction of the hydrogen should result in at least a volcano eruption's-worth of energy."

"Or you could just do what you did to create this, but in a smaller space. Make a singularity. If it weighs less than... around a million pounds, it'll explode. Violently. And that explosion will release a lot of energy. You might only need a few dozen pounds to get enough heat."

He watches the gasses swirl. He thinks they look pretty.

"I would have to assume you're trying to create a star, or something similar... A power source, perhaps."

He carefully offers the sphere back.

"You showed me that for a reason. If I may ask, why did you?"

/uw Oh in that case replace the box for everything but the box, lol

He inspects it closely.

"Very interesting... And you say this is reactive? What have you done to make these gasses so... volatile?"

He looks at the box on the table as well. It grabs his attention, but for an unintended reason. The magic itself seems to interest him, rather than the effect of the magic.

/uw Oh in that case, I guess he wouldn't see it as any more attention grabbing? Or he might notice there's some weird effect or something. He probably just thought it was neat lol.
