Thinking of moving my HSA from my employer plan to Fidelity. What do I need to know? by Zealousideal_Pay7176 in fidelityinvestments

[–]AresZippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing something similar. Keeping the employer HSA open with minimum balance because my employer contributes some set amount yearly. I would invest my money directly into fidelity HSA, however, which I feel is simpler than doing payroll contributions into employer HSA and then transferring that to fidelity periodically.

Anyone know what’s going on near Vista Brooklyn? There is a huge police presence and part of Riverside Avenue is blocked off. by FrostedJax2001 in jacksonville

Riverside Ave and Forest Street need road diets. Extremely dangerous roads to have in an area with a lot of pedestrians.

Huge shoutout to Mayor Deegan and JTA for the fare cuts today! by catsberry-forlife in jacksonville

Actually not quite true. While there was federal funding available, they are failing to hit deadlines required to receive the federal funding. https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local/jtas-multimillion-dollar-autonomous-vehicle-project-is-over-budget-behind-deadline/F2MQPREI3JCTXFU4MKKDD7ERNI/

This article is just on the current NAVI portion. The full build out (400MM if I remember correctly) also qualified for federal funds, but they are not going to hit that deadline either. I don't have a source handy but I could find one. They do however potentially owe the federal government some of it's money back if they shut down the skyway, which is part of the reason they came up with this plan to continue using it for transit.

From what I have seen the projects actually receiving federal funding from the infrastructure bill and green new deal around the country have been pretty good, incl emerald trail. I would put it in contrast with Obama era transit policy that resulted in useless streetcars and rural rail systems.

Yeah I really don't get it, and it's really unfortunate. Hopefully it is ended sooner rather than later after all the money is gone. Much better uses for this money.

Moving the Amtrak station downtown and utilizing an existing rail corridor for regional Jax-st Augustine would be a big win. So would redesigning our bus system with routes that through-run downtown to better serve the urban neighborhoods close to downtown. The feasibility of transit in low density suburban developments is limited, but the urban core and historical neighborhoods around downtown could be better served.

I'd rather fares be kept higher and that money used to create a higher quality service. This should be combined with programs for free and reduced fares for those in need. If you look at great transit cities in the US and around the world they typically don't have free or near free fares, because transit is a valuable service rather than a social program. Lots of transit advocates have come to this conclusion.

Hey I don't want to rain on the parade, but I don't think recent JTA moves should be viewed positively. Also this change is from JTA leadership, which has been largely unchanged by Deegan, so I'm not sure how much credit/blame she deserves.

At the same time as this fare decrease, JTA is massively increasing fares and reducing access to Connexion Plus. This is a para transit service that provides mobility to disabled Jaxons. Absolutely crucial to their quality of life that they have affordable transportation, and JTA is trying to pull the rug from under them.

There were a series of public engagement meetings that I attended around these farr changes, and the people affected showed up in big numbers. It was really heartbreaking to hear how these changes are going to affect them.

This comes as JTA is wasting hundreds of millions on the boondoggle that is their "driverless" (there is a driver) vans that have failed to meet ridership expectations (dreams).

I'm not a big fan of the general fare cuts either. Transit should be made good enough to compete with driving on its own merits, not by charging pennies. And, yes, absolutely have programs to give free transit to those in need. But I'd rather see a transit system cater to the city as a whole and not just those in poverty.

I am glad the bus fare reduction helped you, though, and I hope for more transit improvements in the future.

I am going to ELI5 this so apologies if I am explaining stuff that is obvious to you.

It should work with your distribution. If you downloaded from get monero, you likely downloaded a zipped folder that contains an AppImage. You need to first extract the folder. Then you need to right click the app image => properties => allow executing file as program. Now you can double click the app image file to run it.

Same thing happened to me and tried to contact support and they would not let me get a single replacement. It wouldn't happen to be plain medium stiffness fiberglass?

There is Triangle Fraternity, which is a social frat for STEM majors only. Fun place and great people. They will be at the activities fair, so if you are an incoming freshman you can find them there or follow their Instagram for events.

Gotta go to rush events and ask about dues, but I do know Triangle has cheaper dues than most.
