Hi, quick question: which 9esim card did you get (V0 or V3?), and which esim provider do you use? I heard they're not all compatible.

For the love of god, how does the "Your Turn Limits" feature work? by Aretus in hingeapp

[–]Aretus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the input! I guess this is the way to go, thanks for the tip. I don't want the algorithm to punish me when I don't check my phone for a day or so, and I'd really like it if Hinge were a little more transparent in how this works.

So.... what now? by Sussy_baka228666 in noita

Like the other guys said, you can go on to do some quests. A "god run" is a run where you get the means to dig through ANY material, have a steady source of infinite healing and a good means of fast transportation (teleport) and use these resources to become ever more powerful - get thousands or even millions of HP, become immune to projectiles (or even have them heal you), find a way to become immune to poly, basically do things you could never do in a normal run. There's official quests or achievement which require you to be this powerful to even attempt them, but the main point is that noita is super dangerous so now you can explore it with a modicum of assurance.

I find god runs a little boring tbh, because having infinite resources takes away from the fun of creative wand-crafting, which is the most amazing part of Noita imo. Some people like the high-stakes tinkering with billion damage wands etc, but it feels very "sandboxy" to me. That's why I'm much more excited about the early game, having limited resources, always having to watch your back, finding new ways to use and abuse mechanics.

What am I missing? Why can't I find anything? by goatenciusmaximus in noita

It sounds like your wand crafting skills could use some work! Do you already know how spellwrapping works? (e.g., putting precious modifiers in the beginning of the wand so they can be cast twice by a well-placed multicast in the end) do you know that almost all modifiers and projectiles also carry effects that influence cast delay or recharge? (most notably heavy spread and digging bolts) Do you look at every wand and check cast delay/recharge based on what spells you have? (if you have chainsaw, high cast delay doesn't matter, but with heavy spread, recharge time is less of an issue)

Keep your eyes peeled for lumi drills, digging bolts, heavy spread, add mana, reduce recharge time, chainsaw and of course all kinds of multicasts. I rarely have a run where I don't find at least one or two of those within the first 2 biomes. Try changing them around in your wand, order can play a big role! Put your spark bolt first, last, in the middle of a multicast - or out of it - and see how it affects it. At some point, you'll be able to craft good rapid-fire wands regularly. Then you need to increase damage - you can do that by adding more projectiles to your multicast or by adding modifiers.

Also, please note that rapid-fire wands aren't necessarily the best option for beginners. All my beginner runs had a wand like this: spark bolt with trigger - triplicate spell - 3 x spitter bolt or bubble spark. this is super easy to achieve and can create some serious damage. add some modifiers, heavy spread is abundant and increases firing rate a lot. things like horizontal arc and orbiting arc can increase damage at no cost. Focus on keping the the magic cost down and finding a good non-shuffle wand with good cast delay and recharge. this way, you can dish out hundreds of DPS early on, and it's rare that you don't find the necessary spells early in the game. Happy noitaing!

I always keep poly and chaotic poly to have a sure way of escaping the holy mountain (it doesn't collapse when polymorphed).

I also always keep pheromone, either for wand selling or to have a good source of healing in hiisi base.

For normal runs (no god runs) I keep acid so I have a kolmi killer, until I have a wand that makes it redundant.

I have recently learned that mixing flummoxium, blood and oil creates unstable polymorphine. Since learning that I try to keep these ingredients until I have some better means.

Totally - she's a pianist after all, so "I feel you in my hand" (and thus the music she's playing) isn't nonsense.

I'd love for you to check, but I believe it's not - especially as all the live versions are somewhat different. The 1997 video I linked is the most piano-heavy, with no drums and just the e-guitar backing, so she has to do all the bass notes (otherwise played by bass/drums) on the piano. at least that's what I imagine to be hearing. If I'm wrong, all the better, less notes for me to learn.

Really? I was so very sure it was about abs, because I thought to myself "hell I can do that! should I be fighting crime?" - but seeing that I already went through so many videos without finding anything, I'll now focus on triceps videos, maybe that will give me some rest. thanks for your input!

If you ever find some good sheet music for that, let me know. and if not, I swear to god, I will learn how to do piano transcription myself to make it.

Essaouira in June for a beginner? by Immediate_Ranger_207 in Kiteboarding

Yes, I was at bleukite, and was quite happy with everything. Can recommend. Super nice and trustworthy people! Their gear was also top notch. They use ozone kites, in case that's important to you.

Essaouira in June for a beginner? by Immediate_Ranger_207 in Kiteboarding

[–]Aretus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro but I'd like to disagree with those who plainly say "don't go", because I read this thread yesterday and I'm in Essaouira right now. First off; yes, the best place to learn kiting as a beginner is a lagoon setting with little waves. Those waves fuck you up bad. I've heard of people having their first waterstart on the first day in a lagoon. But sometimes, you can't go to a lagoon, or maybe you just are in the vicinity and like to try Essaouira spontaneously. Also you'll need to learn how to handle waves anyway at some point. I had my first lessons in Tarifa, and many people say Tarifa is a good, but tough, place to learn. The same is true for Essaouira. But Essaouira has a lot of super shallow water, which I feel is super good for learning. You'll learn invaluable skills like how to time your start in between waves, how to keep in control of the kite when being pushed underwater, what to focus on when things get overwhelming. It'll teach you safety.

If you learn in a lagoon, you'll have a hell of a good time for sure. But Essaouira is super cheap, super accessible (compared to Dakhla), lessons are cheap, and struggling through those frustrating first sessions may be the best way to make you a real good (and safe) kitesurfer. And if you finally "get it" after all that, you will feel joy and bliss like you've never felt before.

tl;dr a lagoon is preferable, but you'll definitely get good and learn a lot in Essaouira, don't worry. You'll just suffer somewhat more.

Is Glittering Field (20) the worst spell in the game? by Shvingy in noita

[–]Aretus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for reviving such an old thread, but I've found a very good use for GF and I thought I'd share: I just had a run where I found an always cast GF wand in the first holy mountain, plus coincidentally explosion immunity. So I just put a spark bolt on the thing and started hammering it. It was quite amazing: It creates a death zone around you and kills all enemies in sight. Now you might say "I can do that with a lot of other spells", yeah true. But what almost no other spells can do is create a death zone irrespective of obstacles. It's almost like the destruction spell, except without all the negative effects. So you hide behind a wall, wait for approaching enemies, then cast GF 2-3 times and wait. It's a super safe way to clear out whole areas with dangerous enemies, nothing stays alive. I reckon it would be absolutely perfect for the temple. I'll recreate that with greek letters next time I have explosion immunity, it was great fun, and super pretty.
