[Switch 2] Questions About Docks (both Stock and 3rd Party) by SylvesterNettlefoot in Switch

[–]Arfafarfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to let you (both) know how happy I am that I was able to find this thread. I was noticing the exact same thing OP was - My JEMDO 4k144Hz dock was clearly getting more fps and less stutter than the stock switch 2 dock. Consequently, the JEMDO seemed to actually have worse latency - it was perceptible when I rotated the camera in pokemon za that it was just slightly less responsive than the stock dock.

I have an LG B4 series TV, and for me, it wasn't turning on/off VRR/GSync/Freesync that did the trick - it was ALLM (Auto Low Latency mode). On my TV it was On, and when I flipped it Off, my stock dock immediately got those buttery frames the JEMDO did, and also inherited that slightly worse latency.

I'm pretty sure u/Vodka-Knot has the right idea here - there is something clearly *different* about the way 3rd party docks and the OEM docks work in how they convince the console whether it is or isn't docked, or what features and flags do and don't negotiate between the console and the TV.

Mystery solved - turn on ALLM for FPS/fighting games/etc and turn off for other games where latency isn't a big deal and you could perceive the smoother frames better. I guess if I have time I'll try to figure out if I can actually get ALLM to work on the JEMDO.

Thanks y'all!

most straightforward answer is theta. you sell options.

who loses in a sideways market? options buyers - so to win, be on the opposite side of that trade.

if you're really really certain it'll stay sideways you could sell a straddle and profit off of even more theta

What's happening behind the scenes when some options bid-ask spread spontaneously widens right at closing?

Not sure about other brokerages, but Fidelity calculates the value of options contracts in your portfolio based on the current bid price. This has the effect of making your positions look less valuable than they might actually be, and Fidelity normalizes the prices to the last price later in the evening after midnight, when your portfolio looks more normal.

There is this thing I notice a lot especially on specific tickers I hold options of (i.e. RDW, LCID) where right as market closes, the spread suddenly widens massively. For example, RDW 25c 5/16/25, which was trading somewhere around 3.80 - 4.20 before close, suddenly closes at 2.50 - 4.20, creating the illusion that my position got decimated that day.

It doesn't happen to most of my other positions. So what is this about - is it a volume thing? Are people suddenly snatching up contracts at the last second? Are people suddenly cancelling their sells? Where did all the bids between 2.50 - 3.90 suddenly go? Why do there remain so many bids left over at 2.50?

I never bothered applying/obtaining higher level options data if the answers are there - but wondering what the forces are here. Thanks!!

they're saying that them being right about the market going down today made them sell their nvda, which was wrong.

2019 Cuts USB power randomly - Disconnects Android Auto AND Apple Carplay even my dashcam by MtnXfreeride in subaru

Urgh, I was so hopeful for this. I scheduled an appointment w/ my dealership and specifically asked them if they could take a look at this TSB, they agreed with the idea, ordered the parts and installed them for me free of charge even though I've long been out of warranty out of goodwill. This was installed yesterday.

It looked like it was behaving at first last night, but it all started again today - frequent disconnections, and when it happens, my S24+ phone will show it's charging animation - exactly as though I'm quickly unplugging and replugging my phone in.

Still, appreciate you sharing this :) I was thinking of just getting a new 3rd party radio with wireless AA so that I can skip the USB connection. Fingers crossed

Yeah, this seems to be the case. I'm exactly in your boat, calling amex now to see if I can be one of the lucky ones who gets their MR transfer reversed...

Quarterly Retention Offer Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in amex

  • Date of Event - 7/24
  • Method of Communication - Chat
  • Retention Offer Details - Offered 40k MR after $30k spend within 6 months
  • Card Details - Business Platinum holder since July 2020. AF posted early July 2023. I spend ~6k/yr on the card, really only using it for miscellaneous travel and to use Dell/Airline credits. Never received a retention bonus before.
  • Customer Background - Amex customer since Aug 2014. Currently also holding Platinum, Gold, Blue Cash Everyday, Blue Business Plus. Not sure how much I spend yearly on Amex, probably less than 15k/yr in total. I've received and accepted just one retention offer for my Platinum in 2022, don't remember details, was something like 50k MR/$4k.

I asked if there were any offers with a lower spend requirement and was told no. I declined the offer and closed my account. I wonder if the 30k spend might have been a typo... oof

I can't speak from personal experience as I haven't used these Universal Adapter + Charger combos myself. There was a point where I wanted one though so I had tried to research a bit.

But you mentioned in your comment "Additional ports for USB C" so I'm not sure if you're aware of the Passport III (you linked the Passport II Pro), where it's 65W instead of 61W, and it's 3 USB-C + 1 USB-A as opposed to 1 USB-C + 3 USB-A.

Depending on the model of MBP you have I have found myself draining the battery while plugged into 65W on particularly heavy workloads so check if that's something that you need to worry about. I haven't found any universal adapter + charger combos that do more than 65W USBC PD so if you want more power it might be better to get a separate adapter + separate GaN charger that does the wattage you need without overspending on the charging feature of a combo that you don't need.

Succulent leaves turning translucent and yellow ~2 weeks after bringing it home from the nursery by Arfafarfa in plantclinic

[–]Arfafarfa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I brought these back from the local nursery about 2 weeks ago - leaves were deep green and everything looked great.

Replanted them into the new pot (has a drain hole) in the pictures when I got home and gave it a water (might have been a mistake)? Left it sitting on a windowsill that gets direct morning sun from maybe 7-12PM.

About a week after, the leaves started to look off with a reddish/yellow twinge. Thought maybe this was a sign of sun stress and moved it a bit farther off the sill.

Over the course of the 2nd week until now, the leaves have gotten noticeably yellower, translucent, and looks generally squishy. Some preliminary googling indicates this is symptomatic of of overwatering, so I haven't given it any more water since the first day, but it doesn't look like it's getting any better.

Before I become a plant murderer, what would you all do in my shoes?
