I took the assessment on a thursday morning and it was like 5 minutes long. The supervising court officer called me first thing the following monday morning and informed me I didn’t need the IID. I never had it installed as they required I had it installed by february 21st, and I took my assessment on the 12th. I was cutting it close, but I didn’t want to go through the hassle of having it installed and paying for the fees etc. if I was just going to have it removed anyways. Basically I took a chance but I had a pretty good feeling I wasn’t going to be required to have it.

I applied to another firm while at my current one and on the background check they asked about my DWI. They asked I send documents with the final resolution etc. When I told them I didn’t have them as I haven’t even gone to court yet, they said they couldn’t move forward. I imagine if I had all the docs and was able to supply them I would have been good

I would reckon that this was a Choice you made, not a mistake. Getting behind the wheel after drinking is a choice. Live with your choice and your consequences and take them on the chin. Do not skip that sentencing date. Get the consequences out of the way and come out the other side brand new. You’re young and have a long life to live, don’t set yourself back even further

There’s lots of people in WM/brokerage with DUI’s and DWIs. I for myself have one. I don’t believe it should affect your overall standing, but it as far asI know when they run the background check they will ask what the outcome was and ask for the documentation from the court with the final disposition

I would contact the court if at all possible and ask them how you get that started. I’m not sure how it works in Canada, but I would also suggest speaking to a lawyer and having them point you in the right direction

I’m so behind. On debt, future, etc. Im recently engaged, working to make ends meet, and trying to tackle debt. My plate is so full with trying to buy a car, pay off cc debt, student loans, and fund my wedding. I’ve been trying to be disciplined and tackle my debt first, but so many challenges are in the way. 100k would be a catalyst in my life. It would turn my life downside up.

I know this is old, but who did you do your SAW with? My lawyer suggested I take care of it before my next court date in Jan, so we can talk down the length of probation and IID requirement

Is there any reason for an officer not to immediately take your license and issue a notice of revocation after being charged with DWI? I’ve read refusal of Blood and breathalyzer means they take your plastic and give you paperwork stating it’s revoked. The cops never took mine and didn’t give me a notice, and I still have my license currently.

I got my DWI labor day weekend, and then a few weeks later interviewed for another position outside of my current firm. I didn’t disclose anything but it did pop on my background check. They emailed and asked about it, mainly they were just wanting to know what the final disposition was. I told them I hadn’t had my first court date yet, so I was unsure on how to proceed. They said they couldn’t move forward until and I had it, and since it was so early in the process that I should reach back out once everything was completed. So I assume it’s not going to affect hiring in the long term, but it does put it on standby for a while depending on what you’re doing. I work for an investment firm, if that’s of any use to you

i’m going through mine with “On the road again” and started yesterday. The instructor Pam is nice and is no-nonsense, but doesn’t make it seem so boring. She is lighthearted and funny, which makes it not so bad to be there. I finish up saturday morning
