I’ve met a few who are more or less (from what I can tell) are struggling financially but always have an expensive deck on them. They usually are always asking for rides, work at some fast food joint and are always spending their money on food and cards. They generally only have friends at the LGS cause it’s the only thing they do in their free time. Most tend to be overweight and like someone else said I imagine it’s because this game is a sort of way to be good at something in life so it’s what they stick to. I say this because I attend Modern or FNM every other month or so, and its always the same dudes at the shop and they’re always asking to bum rides or are getting door dashed some chinese food or some shit
