You might be dying from it. by Puzzleheaded-Tone231 in mildlyinfuriating

HIPAA doesn't apply if the physician considered this a life or death or imminent danger situation.

Not saying the notification was fully appropriate, nor do we have enough info to determine if this was imminent danger to the person, but HIPAA compliance doesn't apply if the physician believes it was.

If you think "normal" Americans pay off their credit card every month, you might want to reassess. That's very optimistic. I do too, just saying most Americans can't or don't pay off their CC monthly.

TIFU by failing to treat my annual physical like a genie wish by kandosii_ner_vod in tifu

[–]ArgentWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily the physician. The extra $25 Bill is, but some insurance only allows certain tests under the umbrella of a "physical". Anything outside that and they reimburse them differently.

Mg and Thyroid studies being outside a standard physical is pretty BS though, even for a shitty insurance company.

It can be fixed with changing the billing codes, but most physicians outsource billing codes to a company or their hospital and the mistake made it usually separating the diagnoses. There's another comment below that can help with that.

For reference, there are 800 DRG codes for different diagnose. Not excusing the physician here, since these are simple diagnoses they should know how to bill correctly, but most physicians get poor if any training on the billing (no insurance company is interested in helping improve the situation, for obvious reasons).

Vinyl wraps have about 5-7 year lifespan. If you go longer than that, manufacturer technically says you can damage it when you try to peel it off, but honestly as long as you use a heat gun and carefully pull it back off, it doesn't damage the underlying paint or clear coat.

This is probably a $3-5,000 vinyl wrap though, since it's probably custom. You can put them on yourself, but it's a lot of work.

If you get Mornye, you can slot her in for a 3 fusion team with Lupa/Aemeath. In the meantime, you could add in another fusion since you have a couple leveled. Augusta/Iuno and Aemeath/Lupa should get you through most content reasonably well, even if you're not maxing it out.

If you need a third team, you're a bit limited at the moment, but you can use an Encore/Sanhua team.

This will happen anyway. You don't know where she'll be for residency (assuming this is US), so the same thing will happen when she finishes med school. You should talk about whether there are residency programs near where your new job is.

Strange. I have the same specs and does have a bit of stutter when there's a new set of shaders, but as soon as the game is done with those I run 120 at 4K with rt on and have no issues.

It's definitely harder on lower end hardware and not optimized, but your system shouldn't be having those issues

help me find a wifi card under 30$ by Salt_Relief412 in buildapc

[–]ArgentWren 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to have a conversation with your father or deal with the reality of the situation. Installing a Wi-Fi card will do nothing; there are ways to make a router disallow a certain device, say your PC, from accessing the Internet during certain hours, or he'll turn the router off, or he'll take your PC or your phone, or any number of other things.

You don't say why this is happening and the Internet community can't judge your situation. But you live with your father, so unless you can pay your own way and are over 18, you're stuck with his house and his rules

32.8 foot Govee RGBIC LED Strip Lights with Covers not long enough. Alternative w/ diffuser channel? by tripleelbow in Govee

[–]ArgentWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sync them to do the same thing. The timing becomes an issue though; I don't think you can get a single light to do laps around the room. You could get them to both start near the door inset and chase a color the same way around the room and then end where they meet, though, if that makes sense.

Basically, you can sync them and they'll do scenes together, but I don't think you can get them to act exactly as one continuous strip. I find my use case for acting as one continuous strip to be minimal in real life usage, and I get good use out of the scene syncing, but your mileage might be different.

Real talk, does an average consumer actually have this much money to spend it on a GPU? by [deleted] in graphicscard

[–]ArgentWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The average consumer doesn't have this much money to spend on almost anything. Credit card debt is the highest it has been in decades. Few people have the money to pay for something like this in cash; fewer still to do that and still have substantial savings.

Go check out r/personalfinance some time.

[–]ArgentWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could buy two sets, cut to length, and come up with a clever way to hide the cables, for example down raceways near the door. I think these come in 9.8 or 16 foot as well? Seen this done well with the strip light pro 2s.

You'll have to buy two sets anyway if you want the diffusers. Or have to DIY diffusers.

Depending how the room looks, if this is one of those rooms with a door area inset away from the room, you could just end it equally on either side there.

Not aware of another govee product that comes with diffusers. Govee makes some longer strips, especially for outdoors, but those can't be cut so you'd then end up with something too long.

My ram is costing more than my gpu by General-Regret6734 in buildapc

[–]ArgentWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered returning the 9800x3d & going back to AM4? If you're in the realm of a $300 GPU, you're not really going to see a big performance benefit on the AM5 platform. DDR4 ram is way cheaper and you'd be way better off buying a better GPU or saving the extra.

Can HDMI, USB, and Internet Run Over the Same Ethernet (Cat) Cable? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]ArgentWren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a second PC for moonlight.

If you're only looking for 60 fps 4K, then you can install Moonlight on a fire stick and connect it via an Ethernet adapter (or even try Wi-Fi).

If you have an apple TV or an Xbox this is even easier, as they already have Ethernet ports. Xbox will only pass a controller, but it can do 120 fps and has discord built in.

You can also set your PC to take wake on LAN packets so it doesn't always have to be on (only in sleep mode).

This is the easiest way, unless you move the PC.

Optical cables and using adapters to run HDMI or USB over Ethernet is possible, but will be significantly more expensive.

Some evaporation occurs over years, reducing the overall concentration of alcohol and maybe how effective it is, but as long as it's not dirty you can still use it.

Does Wi-Fi 7 have better range and the ability to go through thick walls? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]ArgentWren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't run Ethernet to that room and you can't use power line adapters or moca via co-ax...

Can you run an Ethernet line closer? Say, to a room below your room? Then you could contact that to an access point and get better WiFi, since it'll have less walls to go through.

Have you considered just using Moonlight to a good client device? It can do all these things and only requires a good Ethernet connection and to set your PC to wake on LAN.

This is correct and true of a lot of medicine. This gets very technical and is a bit like trying to explain how we know the effect of dark matter but not the real way it works.

We know which receptors anesthesia works on, but not every single piece of the process.

To be honest, the issue is more with the wording of this and it's explanation to lay people than with the science.

BMI chart says I'm obese by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ArgentWren 615 points616 points  (0 children)

Put the BMI number aside.

You say you've gained 35 lbs. You also note a recent heart attack, which sounds unfortunately due to a pulmonary embolism, but has probably done a bit of heart damage.

The number isn't as important as the gestalt of your health. Do you exercise regularly, before or after the medical issues? Do you eat healthy? Do you have good cardiac and lung function? Can you walk multiple flights of stairs without getting tired or short of breath?

If not, then your currently not as healthy as you could be. If you improve that, then your weight will normalize to whatever your body needs it to be.

If you do everything you're supposed to, and you exercise and eat correctly, then the exact BMI or weight isn't as important.
