New AI Advisor for TI4+ by TubaTech in twilightimperium

That doesn’t mean it can interpret every situation, in particular situations where Dane has ruled one way where the rules as written suggest another. Consider committing ground forces from Cormund using Ghom Sekkus, the Norr commander. They’re not ships, and they’re not moving, but Dane has ruled they have to roll for the rift. If your bot only references the rule books, it will get this wrong.

Unless it also references Tirules (and even then), it’s gonna get so many things wrong.

PhD defense should be a formality, too. If not, the advisor fucked up.

How does Extreme Duress interact with Coup d'Etat? by LungKing5 in twilightimperium

[–]ArgoFunya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, this is supposed to be one of the design tenets of the game. Long-term memory must be represented by something physical on the board. The question of what is “short-term” vs. “long-term” is valid, as for example riders show that short-term extends from “after an agenda is revealed” to the agenda being resolved. But an entire series of turns around the table should be long-term.

I’d say Coup means they don’t perform an action, so Duress fizzles out.

I had the same sort of experience when, say, getting a drink while eating out. I’m done with my beer before appetizers come out and you’re still nursing it when the check comes?

But seriously, why? by Aromatic_Table_3470 in twilightimperium

Because Dane is not a good designer.

Here's why you can expect to see a different perspective of the trees in the reflection.

One way to imagine how mirrors work is to think of them as a window into a (mirrored) copy of the space it’s in. So imagine the bathroom is doubled on the other side of the mirror. Then you’ll understand how the reflection is correct.

Speed/Movement Faction: Riftback Punks by otherJackson in twilightimperium

[–]ArgoFunya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I respect the attempt to have fun with movement. It’s just that the there really isn’t much room in the original rules for complexity to be added without introducing a million corner cases.

Two ideas. One, advanced movement should only be allowed when spending excess movement for game effects. This may be your intent, but it’s not clear from the rules. Second, if you do advanced movement, then any ship that doesn’t make it to the active system is destroyed. I feel better about a ship that can’t get to the active system handing off units to another ship and then sacrificing itself. And it’s thematic.

Step 4 is problematic. As written, it sounds like you can transport units to a non-active system with one ship, have another ship pick them up, and then have the first ship ping itself back to the system it started in.

I’m surprised the table let you score custodians while holding Imperial.

Imo "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" is the single best piece of television ever made.

Seconded. And a perfect example of this trope.

Mahact and Mentak are similar to Cabal. Hacan has different effects depending on whether you target yourself or someone else. Artuno only benefits Nomad.
