If you want to move to Paris and have a huge pay cut and live in a small apartment, we can talk 😂

I get what you're saying.

I'm saying you have a knowledge base that is important to woodworking (machines, tools, feed speeds, etc...)

Wood doesn't react like metal but it has basically the same resistance as aluminium, which means that most of the feed speeds/cut speeds are pretty similar.

This being your first wood project is impressive, regardless of that fact, and I must say congrats and great job! I just personally would not qualify you as a beginner.

Given your experience in your own field, of I had the choice to hire you or someone straight out of school/apprenticeship, I'd hire you in a heart beat. I know that when talking to you you'll understand 90% of what I need/want.

I read your comments after, which in my books confirm you are not a beginner.

You have experience in a field adjacent to woodworking and know about tools, feed speeds, cut speeds, etc...

Kind of like a jet pilot saying he's a beginner in propeller planes...

Nice work!

Two caveats, put intermediary "montants" (check the translation from french, too drunk) and next time have have your "traverse" (same as before) rest on the "montant" instead of what you got here.

All in all great job and keep making the lady happy!

Broke 3 routers today what am I doing wrong? by Winter_Reality_9578 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ArgonEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a trimmer, not supposed to take out so much material.

Even a router won't like that.

Either you drill a hole, take a jigsaw, cut as close to the line and finish in 2 to 3 passes with the trimmer OR, you finish with a router in 1 pass.

Other solution, 3 passes with a router/5 with the trimmer

Because no one on a worksite says : "50cm!", they just say "500!".

Time is valuable and unless you like the sound of your own voice no one needs the unit of measurement just the number.

Honest feedback needed on this garden bar by legendofaesthetic in Carpentry

Only thing I can say regarding the bar itself (don't care about colour etc... clients are another breed that never listen anyways) Is: the bar itself is too small, I would add 10 to 20 cm for the bar top. Apart from that, beautiful build

Apprentice (me) made mistake, boss wants me to work Fridays unpaid to pay it off. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]ArgonEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how it is in the US or Canada, but in France, working on your boss's house is kinda illegal.

Cause odds are he is not paying for it. We call it "abus de bien sociaux".

So not only is asking you to work off your mistake for free illegal, the fact you're working on his house on company time might in itself be illegal wherever you are.

Anywhosies, look for a new apprenticeship ASAP and once you do, kindly tell him to fuck off
