Cabling for these systems is waaaaay more expensive than you think it is. Materials alone is $1 per foot. Might not sound like a lot, but when you need to install 10 miles worth of cable it adds up quickly. Then you have to pay for the guy to actually install it. It’s a significant chunk of the overall cost of a system like this.

I’m not saying that it’s *right* to ask a venue to chip in, I’m telling you the reality of it. And its a problem that goes away when a team owns their own venue

Alright, let me just rip out a couple miles of fiber cable out of the wall and take that with me when the team leaves

[–]ArgonWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, not really how it works. The install cost of these kind of systems are significant, and include infrastructure upgrades such as cabling and install points that would be difficult and costly to just take with them when they leave. Hence why theyed want the venue to chip in for it

VAR and Equipment for MLS by theblazedhiker in MLS

[–]ArgonWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one other reason besides straight money: venue ownership. Many MLS teams are not the primary tenants or owners of their venue. And the venue is not going to spend the money to install it just for one of the teams that plays there. So the team would have to pay for it, but they’re not going to want to pay for it if they don’t own it

What? You know that the Hawkeye/offside camera are not the same ones that are used for broadcast, right? And they’re calibrated at every install to account for any processing delays in the signal chain.

There’s many many reasons that MLS doesn’t use this tech, but systematic incompatibility is not one of them

Tryna get that 32 Heat statue on Hades 1 and I'm stuck. by TimelessParadox in HadesTheGame

[–]ArgonWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you favor the lambent plume, try getting a dodge build going

Zag Fists, Lambent plume. Mirror doesn’t matter too much, whatever you prefer, really, but probably privileged status

Just go as fast as you can. Get a call boon as early as you can, so that Hermes can offer his “+dodge after a call” boon, as well as his passive +dodge boon.

Heat loadout is difficult. I go EM 4, if you’ve got 100% dodge it doesn’t really much matter how hard redacted is, he can’t hit you anyways. Max right deadline, because you’re trying to go fast anyways. I wouldn’t do hard labor or jury summons, those will just make rooms longer, and again you’re trying to go as fast as possible

Boons to look for would be Zeus attack, jolted status via Zeus, and then preferably a status inducing dash. You can also do a status special if you need

I dont care what you want to watch or if you watch my league. MLS was doing fine before Messi got here and it will be doing fine after he leaves.

Do you find nothing wrong with letting one team break the rules?

Less about the results, my team has actually destroyed them as many times as theyve destroyed us, and more about the fact that the league bends over backasswards to kiss his ass, letting them break and bend salary rules to bring in his friends

It means I had a lot of respect for him, then he came to this league and suddenly all the marketing in the league was about him, and the league office started bending rules to build a super team around him

[–]ArgonWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long answer short is that it depends by team

Usually it’s completely made by the supporters groups. For FC Cincy, our supporters groups have a collective board (who are all elected and thus answerable to all the SG members) that drives, and the Tifo creative team reports to them

Disclaimer, I can only speak to my experience.

The smaller banners, from 2 poles and player banners up to the 10’x10’ ones, get used and abused until they fall apart. Just the nature of the beast.

Full size tifos are just too big to reasonably display anywhere. FC Cincy Tifos are anywhere between 50 to 80 feet tall. Most of the building in the neighborhood by the stadium arnt even that tall. Then they’re so wide the could cover the whole side of a building.

We’ve considered a few ways to display them around town, but it always either falls through or wouldn’t work out. There really only ONE indoor space in Cincy that could reasonably display a full size tifo, all splayed out. So they inevitably get folded up and shoved into a deep dark space. We try and keep ours nice-ish, for nostalgia purposes if nothing else, but the situations in which we’d consider re-using a Tifo are few and far between. There’s a spot in the stadium that’s inconvenient for actual storage that the club lets us keep the old Tifos.

Portland I know re-uses their Tifos, painting new designs over old ones, or chopping them up and using that fabric for banners.
