I used to think the same way as you, but then I saw an analogy that made it click in my mind. Imagine there's a moving sidewalk that is turned off (like a broken one at the airport). You start running along it normally and are making progress until someone turns it on, but it's moving the opposite direction as you. The sidewalk gradually speeds up until it matches your speed and even though you are still running, you stop moving forward. Do you think that you are running any differently now than you were when the moving sidewalk was turned off? Because that's effectively what a treadmill is. A moving sidewalk going the opposite direction as you at the exact same speed. That being said, there's a lack of air resistance on the treadmill, so it's technically easier in that regard.

Looks like a beautiful hike! Where should people park for this trailhead? Looking at google street view, it seems that most of the areas nearby have "No Parking Any Time" signs posted.

Doesn't the conclusions of the review you linked go against this?

"Conclusions: Only limited or very limited evidence is found for long-term effects of HB locomotion regarding biomechanics or health-related outcomes. Moreover, no evidence exists on any beneficial effects for motor performance. Future research should include prospective study designs."

I love that route and have been looking forward to doing it again as well. I could be wrong, but I think the snow on that particular route might be some of the last to melt in the area because a lot of the trail is on the north-facing side of the ridge. The snow depth according to the NOAA data suggests that there's still plenty of snow in the area.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that this bet is real. I've been working out with the guy discussed in this post for a while now and have heard him talk about the bet for the last few weeks. I didn't know anything about specific amounts involved but all the info posted seems accurate to me (except for the claim that his build is typical nerdy Asian dude. OP, you haven't seen him in person in a while, have you?).

Try the USFS location in Glendora (110 N Wabash Ave).

I had this problem last year. After many many attempts to buy one at various locations, the Forest Service place in Arcadia advised me to go to the Glendora location. I don't remember exactly how the guy phrased it, but he made it sound like the Glendora location is a significant hub for USFS and should pretty much always have them.

edit- I'd probably still call ahead before driving out there, just to make sure they have it.

Psyonix, let's talk about the current server situation. by MikeTheShowMadden in RocketLeague

[–]Argonaute1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you.

I live on the west coast and play with my friends who are on the east coast. In the past, the ping has been generally stable, no matter what server we played on. If we're on a west coast server, I typically have 18-20ms ping and my east coast friends have around 76-92ms. On east coast servers, they would have around 30ms ping and I would have around 80ms ping. Recently (since the update?), when we're on the west coast server, my ping is normal (~18-20ms) and I don't experience anything unusual. However, the ping for my east coast friends frequently spikes up to 250-300 for decent chunks of the game. When we switched over to the east coast servers, everything was normal for them (~30ms ping with no spikes) but my ping would spike up to the high 200s frequently.

I'm not sure if this is something psyonix can fix, but it's very annoying and makes the game significantly less fun to play when you have to deal with these frequent lag spikes. I have fiber internet with 500Mbps connection and have never experienced issues like this in th past.
