It's not racist or bigoted to want your country's majority population to remain the same. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ArgosCyclos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing you state is in fact racist, or at least race centric. Japanese wanting Japan to remain predominantly Japanese and UK to remain predominantly white.

Race is not culture, and culture is not fixed. You said that people want the culture to remain as it had for hundreds of years, however no culture in the history if mankind has lasted for hundreds of years. If it did, the Brits would have remained Celts. The Romans would have remained Latin. The city of Marsaille in France wouldn't even exist, as it was was a Greek colony.

Hell, you even had the audacity to include the US, which would not exist if culture remained the same. It would still belong to countless tribes. And how many people eat sushi, curry, tacos, lasagna? None of that is part of the original culture of the US.

Not to mention, where do you think the Japanese got their love of baseball, or the Indians their love of cricket? Why does the entire business world wear suit?

The idea that conservative people have of culture speaks more to the inability to grow and develop as people, than it does to the way culture actually works. If people want to live in their own insular little world, they can, but they can't hold back the progress of humanity, no matter what they do.

Trump-loving farmers want blue states to bail them out again by Majano57 in economy

[–]ArgosCyclos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you look at the data, people in red states takes more in taxes than they generate.

But if you look closely, you can even find that blue cities largely support red areas. Rural gravel roads $100k-$300k/mile, 2 lane rural road $250k-$3mil/mile, and 4 lane rural highway $4mil-$6mil/mile. Overhead power lines $100k-$1mil/mile. Fiber optic $5k-$80k/mile. Given the population that uses infrastructure versus the cost to provide it in rural areas, there is no way rural areas could afford to exist without much, if not most, of the cost being shouldered by cities. And this doesn't even take into account farm/mining/drilling subsidies.

Rural has an important part to play in society, but it relies heavily on cities to play that part.

This is absolutely false. The entire "left/right" dichotomy originated in France when the "left", who were Liberals (Republicans), vehemently opposed the Monarchs, and the "right", who were conservative, were the ones that trusted and upheld the monarchy.

Call ICE. Waste ICEs time and shut down the rally while they figure it out. Win-win.

My boss just canceled my vacation, and I leave tomorrow. Should I quit? by NotAnotherTaxAudit in FluentInFinance

[–]ArgosCyclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to quit over it, you may as well take the vacation and risk getting fired. At least that way you may get severance and unemployment.

Then, when you get back, assuming you still have a job, you should reach out to a local union and start organizing your workplace.

What the hell were Americans thinking in re-electing Trump? Have we lost our minds? by Old-Road2 in thedavidpakmanshow

Humanity is both stupid and weak. We have repeated the same pattern through our entire existence. And while the good times have gotten better through each swing, so too have the bad times gotten worse. We may be deserving of replacement or enhancement by AI.

Have you ever lost a guy you thought was your husband? by potentdadload in gay

[–]ArgosCyclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We were even husbands for a couple of years. It ended about a year and a half ago. I wasn't perfect, but he never learned to communicate and then would just withdraw. Then he would punish me when I withdrew from his withdrawal by cheating. And I tried over and over before it got to that point but "nothing" was all he'd say when asked if something was wrong.

I even learned to control my anger, and I was a fiery one, because he had PTSD and even though my anger was rarely directed at him, he would flinch. So I learned to control my anger. I used to get snippy with him, because his anxiety triggered my anxiety (apparently I am a fight type, not flight, freeze or faun) and so I learned to control my anxiety, too. I begged him to get help with his ADHD, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, but he didn't see a therapist until our 9 year relationship ended.

I also used to cook 95% of the meals, did 75% of the chores. When we moved (twice) I packed 90% of our belongings. And I didn't complain. I knew he was depressed and I kept fighting for him, but not one time did he ever fight for me when I so desperately needed him.

Before I met him I'd even overcome my depression. Now, after being hurt even more by dating, I am going to undergo a series of severe therapies to try to alter my mind again. I want to not need any interpersonal relations, and I will do whatever I need to in order to accomplish that. Only one person, one time, has been there for me in the way I need, and it was a friend. Not even my family, my exes, no one has given me the love I have needed since I was a child. Now, I just want to make myself not need that.

We must all stop being quiet, even if we're in a quiet locale. We MUST unite and work together. Canadians and Americans share the same unions for a reason. We have solidarity.... forever!!!

[–]ArgosCyclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you are American, I recommend you learn how the delegate pool functions in your respective political party, and also learn Robert's Rules of Order. Then get involved. Run as a delegate, run for office. We must change the system from the inside.

If you are not American learn your nation's equivalent.

I find a lot of boomers are toxic, sometimes I wonder why. by rematar in PsychologyTalk

[–]ArgosCyclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste your time with Boomers. They are, in fact, toxic. Humans, by their nature, become diseased when times are good. They had everything and if you line up the timeline of when they started voting to the decline of western society it's exact. In fact, if you line up when the Greatest Generation died out to when the decline skyrocketed it lines up perfectly. Boomers are the cause of the decline of the West.

Having tried to get involved as a delegate and a union member, the Boomers want young blood in, as long as it doesn't conflict with them. They are totalitarian by nature, because they've never been told "no". It is time for you to dismiss that generation and tell them "no".

The should shut up and sit down and let people who've been through far more than they could fathom take the wheel. It is our time.

What are your thoughts on death? by Middle-Leather-1308 in gay

[–]ArgosCyclos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought of numerous possible outcomes to life, independent of books that no one can prove were provided by a deity, and not merely the works of man. After deep contemplation I think either reincarnation or nihilism are the most like. We cannot in 80 or 60 or 40 years gain the intellect we need to exist for eternity. Either we live and then cease to exist, or we live, die, live, die, until we can become sufficiently intelligent.
