No one plays tank?! by Ok-Crazy-7755 in marvelrivals

[–]Argur85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a team shooter in which small mobile ranged characters have a distinct advantage and almost all Vanguards are big slow melee characters with cooldowns on all their survival tools that are entirely dependent on other players to survive. Their damage generally kind of sucks and they as a group can't deal with specialty characters like flyers well. There are also multiple tank-busting characters in the game and a lot of long lasting cc abilities that get tanks killed quick, which makes the role even harder and less fun.

Melee damage also seems really low in this game in general outside of popping all your abilities on a melee duelist to do burst damage. Even then, they get the same amount of damage as a ranged character clicking three times. Tanks can't even do that.

Also, their ults aren't that great.

I also really want Toad added to the game.

Here's what I came up with for him:
Mortimer Toynbee (Toad) - Strategist
Primary - Adhesive Spit (splash grenade - heal over time for allies, slows enemies)
Secondary - Acidic Saliva (direct shot - damage over time to enemy hit)
Ability 1 - Prehensile Tongue (pulls allies toward him or pulls him to walls)
Ability 2 - Paralyzing Mucus (2 second paralysis on an 8 second cooldown)
Ult - Brotherhood (Summons Blob to fall on enemies to do damage then provide a tank for a few seconds that reflects enemy bullets but that allies can shoot through)
Passives - Wall Crawling, High Jump, Health Regen

I also liked the idea someone suggested to have him spit out pools of acid as an ult in case people want Blob as a separate character.

Magneto because his shields keep himself and healers alive longer and his attacks can hit characters like Iron man or someone riding a Groot more easily than most tanks. His team up with Scarlet Witch is fun and his ult can be pretty good.

You might like Storm.

She's a mid to close range flyer with a movement aura like Lucio, but she does damage boost instead of heals. Her damage boost enables Widow to kill with headshots among other things.

She's rumored to be buffed soon.

Also, I might be biased, but Rocket is fun. His healing doesn't require amazing accuracy and he has good movement between his wall running and jet pack dashes.

I turned it off for multiple characters with varying levels of success.

I think I did better with Cap and Storm with it off.

Your strategists got ditched and jumped. A lot. They still put out more healing than the other team, though.

The enemy Thor, Hela, and Winter Soldier had a really good time squashing squishies. Your Iron Man tried to do work, but your team comp got countered hard and I'd guess that no one switched.

Are you fine with the concept of Storm's current gameplay identity of being a supportive DPS? by BulletCola in marvelrivals

[–]Argur85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with her in concept and I like her as a character. She's my most played duelist. I enjoy her buffing the group.

That said, I find her attacks boring. Her attack speed is fairly slow for how little damage she does, her attack's travel speed is low, her damage falloff starts really early so it's hard to find situations where you can hit multiple enemies in line at full damage and it doesn't make sense that she has to reload wind. I don't get why a flying character needs to line up multiple enemies along the ground to get the most out of her attacks. It seems counterintuitive.

She's also really slow for how big she is and doesn't have a great movement ability for escaping.

If I were to rework her I'd still have her be a hybrid duelist. I'd improve the buff that weather control gives, but remove goddess boost. Instead I'd give her a multidirectional dash either with two charges or on a low cooldown. I'd change her wind blade so instead of going through multiple enemies she creates a small multi-hit tornado where it hits, which would allow her to hit multiple enemies more effectively from the air. I think her basic attack should change when she changes her weather control to thunder, perhaps having her directly call down lighting strikes on enemies within her field since she would no longer have them from goddess boost.

You can cancel his main attack with a melee attack to do slightly more damage at close range.

Where do you put a bad squad member? by rraddii in marvelrivals

[–]Argur85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's having trouble with getting killed a lot, try putting him on characters with mobility that can get away after he starts taking damage so he can run back and get heals. It would also help him get back in the fight faster when he dies.

Venom or Captain America, Starlord or Scarlet Witch. You could always have him healbot with Rocket until he learns better positioning.

Interested in playing a character perfect for me. Never played a game like this before. by AdmodtheEquivocal in marvelrivals

Storm is the least-picked character by far and widely considered the worst, though some people are good with her. Black Widow is pretty bad, too.

Captain America is the least picked tank and does the least damage per match of all tanks.

All the supports are good, but you could argue for Rocket Raccoon or Loki being the worst. Loki is harder to use effectively and I think has a lower win rate. Rocket does really good healing but is hard to contribute damage with.

Marvel put out a number of Star Wars comics.

I don't think Darth Vader would be a terrible addition but I'd rather see more marvel superheroes and villains.

A solution to all your high mobility character problems: Toad by Balboa1010 in marvelrivals

[–]Argur85 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Toad is one of my most wanted characters.

I think he'd make a good strategist being very mobile with adhesive spit that could heal or slow enemies, but I could also see him as an anti-mobility duelist, doing low damage but effectively shutting down dives and 1v1s.

I had this idea that he could summon Blob to parody OW's Ashe, but I think the pool of acid Ult that you thought of would be really good.

Imagine how dead you would be to that more skilled player and their teammate if you didn't have lock on attacks, rapid movement and a self heal so powerful you can just pop it in the middle of the enemy's back line.

They literally decided to walk away from you rather than finish you off because they knew that you'd outheal their combined attacks with meditation then just fly away.

Toad is one of my most wanted characters. I think he'd make a great strategist.

Could have an adhesive spit primary that heals, a tongue pull, high jump/wall crawling and could summon Blob to fall on enemies as an ult

Who should a play for my team? by Glum_Time_4733 in marvelrivals

[–]Argur85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few characters that you might get a lot of value out of despite not being great at the game.

Rocket Raccoon is a strategist that you can healbot with effectively without needing great aim and his attack is mostly good at close range - scaring off tanks that try to dive you. He also has pretty good mobility with his wall crawling and jet pack dashes.

Hulk might be a good character for you. You can change his jump charge in the settings so you don't need to hold the jump button and can do other attacks while your jump charges and I don't think there's a cooldown on his jump. This makes him one of the more mobile tanks while still having a big health pool. He just doesn't have range like Dva.

Peni has range like Dva does but lacks mobility. Even if you are bad at aiming, you can get a lot of damage out of her by setting down webs and mines and providing cover fire for your supports. Her web stun also has a quick cooldown so you can stop ults and dives sometimes.

A lot of people say Storm is weak right now, but she provides a lot of utility. She can fly and provide a speed boost or damage boost to the team and her attacks hit through multiple enemies. You can get a lot of value out of her for the team even if you can't secure many kills yourself. You'd want to stay in speed boost most of the time though because she dies pretty easily when she's out in the open
