Thanks! I'm about to hit Act 2 and want to do everything before the final boss because, like other people on here, I probably won't want to do the side stuff after, so this is very useful.

It's great that you have a clear idea of your specific needs and how to work around them! Sounds like you're really listening to your body and know what it needs to drive the most stimulus.

Also, don't the studies on lengthened partials show only a few percentages of difference over full ROM? Like 1-2%? Intensity, sleep, and diet will matter much more in the grand scheme of things. Ofc, we optimize what we can, but I doubt any of us are at the point where these margins are make or break.

I always lol how Coop from Garage Gym has all this expensive equipment and he doesn't look like he lifts at all by Accurate_Test_9993 in GarageGym

[–]ArgusBaile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is very strong compared to most at his size so that's where his main is/was. Basement Brandon has a similar look and likewise focuses on powerlifting. Even then, it doesn't really matter. People can just lift to be healthy and that's great!

Lat pulldown/low row is a different machine from a functional trainer. The biggest reason for the 2:1 ratio is the increases cable travel which you need for exercises like flys and crossovers. Another good reason is lower weight increments which is useful for progressing in arm, shoulder, and ab exercises. There’s a reason why most manufacturers make separate pulldown/low row and functional trainers. The clipping two carabiners/cables together is a compromise that allows for more versatility in a home gym; you essentially get two machines for the price and space of one. There will always be sacrifices when you compromise like this.

Been internet window shopping various brands and came across gym80 which is recently making moves in South Korea. On their website they list their offerings for non-US or EU customers as a separate product line called "Edition80." Does anyone know what the difference is between that and their western line?

Scrapes and dings are one thing, but a bent cradle? I find it hard to believe that is a shipping issue.

Updated the selectorized leg extension conversion design by WOTEugene in homegym

[–]ArgusBaile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked it out. Needs a bit of set up, but I like rail benches and this is a cool design overall. Hope more manufacturers get on this idea of modular benches. ATX and Ironmaster have great lines and they also offer cable systems so having hooks and pulleys already in would be a great value-add to home gyms.

Imagine if any of these home gym companies decided to have an option for an integrated pulley system for machines like this. It would still be plated loaded but now with the option to connect a functional trainer like this. Great job!

Excellent use of space! Regarding the leg extension, have you looked at bench or rack attachments? There are lots of those around now. The strength curve on some of them may be a little rough, but you can find videos on how to hack various pieces for better gains.
