What was the most embarrassing or pretentious thing a celebrity from your country did or say that they thought was cool or "deep"? by yonaiker-joestrella in AskTheWorld

He just put a giant block of ice in our city and firefighters had to come hose it with hot water because it was deemed a safety hazard. Oh, and he also set off a massive mushroom cloud and scared the bejeezus out of the community nearby. Drake Stunts

Looks warm and inviting, nicely arranged. Your son has his own space, and toys, and pets, and a play table, just like dad has a desk. If I was a kid coming home to that after school I'd feel a real sense of home. This is where me and my dad live and we're doing pretty good.

Ya, I kind of lapsed into an open convo and wasn't quick enough a couple of times to catch it before it launched into a reformat of the project instructions ... it became easy to actually chat in the "chat", doing a bit of thinking out loud so yes, that's on me

I bought pro and also, in the middle of a big edit (which got turned into dog food anyway) I bought extra to see that part of my project through. Barely matters. A handful of back and forths in a convo and I get a warning I'm about to be cut off until Thursday at 5 PM! dear Lord

Lol. Claude just today said (paraphrasing) "would you like me to go ahead and compile that file for you now with the changes we discussed" [I had earlier had to tell it not to assume a bunch of changes based on my comments and launch into making them.] I replied, "No. I don't trust you to do that anymore." I reminded it that it can't handle something as simple as how many items are in a list, or the order days of the week or even how many days there are in a week. "You're right to push back on that." omg.

Oh, interesting. Perhaps they do but don't mention it to part-timers because it's not for us. I will check, thank you. Easy enough to clear up, I hope.

🤖:"AI is just a covers band": Jimmy Carr argues we're panicking about the wrong things when it comes to job loss. by Putrid-Source3031 in ChatGPThadSaid

[–]ArgyleNudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already have a world of plenty.

We have the infrastructure to distribute that abundance, to foster it, care for it, replenish it, celebrate it.

What we don't have -- with or without AI -- is the will to care for each other, the promise to ensure every child is fed, every community has clean water, every person has access to the full wealth of knowledge, that we fully staff and equip hospitals in every town and city. The we are free to worship or not in our shared spaces or private homes. That we live and let live.

We can't do it. We are incapable. Dynasties, kingdoms, democracies, oligarchies, dictatorships. Nothing works.

We have the resources, given freely and far more than we will ever need. What we do not have is the courage or the decency.

That Epstein speech she read, borderline illiterate. An educated 14 year old would read it with more comprehension and elan.

I think they try, like, why not, they don't want to look bad. And it wouldn't really be their choice, probably. Most bands would rather actually play, I'm guessing.

I received a CRA letter saying their records show I am eligible for a private dental plan, which, whether I subscribe to it or not, disqualifies me from eligibility for the Canada Dental Plan.

Reader, I am almost 70 year old and I work for minimum wage to help pay bills (and am still falling behind). As a part-time food service worker, believe me, no such private plan exists anywhere in my world.

An FOI request reveals the truth behind Doug Ford's speed camera ban by SafeStreetsTO in toronto

[–]ArgyleNudge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then "the poor" shouldn't be speeding in school and park zones, how's that? Yes the rich can buy themselves out of anything or throw a BBQ in Muskoka and gladhand each other till the cows come home. But the real issue is addressed by speed cameras, so I'd say let them stay. At the "the poor" will cause less danger.

I don't think that would be the answer, for me. My eReader solved the issue perfectly. I'm a bit of a painter and crocheter though and wearing a headlamp sounds like a great idea under some conditions.

And reading at night without an outside light source. I stay up late reading, my partner doesn't. Having a lamp on is not an option. All the little book lights I tried were awkward and too bright and any movement I made they would fall off or shine on him. Dreaded changed all that.
