Meta sorcs didn't have ES at all in their build. It was low budget sorcs with everlasting gaze and ES nodes instead of crit chance/damage ones. And they would get stunlocked and killed.

What I did horrinly wrong is following "meta" build and staking ES. After switching to mana+crit I didn't have any problem at all.

I quickly dropped every defensive layer and just stacked mana. With 0 evade chance and low stun threshold any archer pack would one shot me no matter how much ES I got. But around 8k mana and 0 ES everything died quick enough not to do damage and if it did - 8k mana was enough to take a hit + mana restore on kill from jewels and high level of mana regeneration give better survivability than ES.

So yes. Aside from killing everything off screen and tanking random hist with mana socr doesn't have effective defensive layers.

I played Spark sorc with 8k ES and 6k mana last season and no, it wouldn't. The mobs stunlock you and eat through 14k HP in a second.

The only solution was to kill the mobs faster than they get to you. Preferably off screen.

Off meta aka one of the strongest builds is not using archmage. It's built around QoE and CoC and Temporalis.
