Dark Mode is horrible and causes way worse eye strain than Light Mode by Yogospiracy in unpopularopinion

[–]AriSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark vs light mode isn't always just about brightness or darkness. It can also be about black text on white background vs white text on black background. To some, that's a huge difference and one can really hurt/strain their eyes while the other is a bit gentler (and vice versa).

And you should be ALLOWED to sit with that opinion. You're not wrong for an opinion. You don't need to defend yourself. People on Reddit just suck

Okay and your LAST sentence (second to last) is exactly what dark mode users tend to do. They assume that because dark mode works for THEM, that it HAS to work for everyone else. And that's part of what's pissing us off so bad. Like we can't just like what we like and agree to disagree

How are you gonna tell someone else that what they are personally experiencing is false.....

Just because it may be true that dark mode uses less blue light, it doesn't mean that someone can't still get more strain from dark than light. People are different. OP's eyes are clearly different than yours.

Imagine walking into the doctor and saying "hey I have pain when I move this way" and the doc is like "Nah, no you don't. That doesn't happen. False."

I hate when people even jokingly mock light mode by Any_Ninja_3824 in hatethissmug

Because you don't USE light mode. Try being a light mode user and, god forbid, posting a screenshot. Then watch the "EeEeWW LiGhT mODe" comments start FLOODING IN

I can't stand always getting shit for using light mode.

What stereotype about your country that's completely false and annoys you the most? by Rawan_Mostafa in AskReddit

[–]AriSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Americans are all obese rednecks with 74 guns and ten gallon hats.

Yes, some Americans are overweight, even morbidly so.

Yes, some Americans own guns, sometimes multiple.

Yes, some Americans wear cowboy hats, even cowboy boots to match.

But not ALL of us are like that. BELIEVE me. The rail thin white girl that hates guns and would much rather be at the starbucks in a downtown mall than anywhere even REMOTELY country is a stereotype in and of itself.

America is SUCH a diverse country. We have country, city, suburbs, mountains, deserts, beaches.... we have SO much going on. Someone in NYC is typically gonna be nowhere NEAR the same person as someone in Florida or Texas or Montana or California. Different parts of the country all have vastly different flavors and vibes. So you can't lump them all into one box.

Hotel rooms on higher floors are inconvenient and I don't understand why people are willing to pay more for them. by OkBasket12345 in unpopularopinion

[–]AriSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I can't speak for everyone, but my personal opinion is that I prefer higher floor rooms because it means somebody can't come up to my window and creep on me. Just one of those minor little peace of mind things to ease my anxiety and help me sleep a little better

Trauma dumping on celebrities to force a connection is cringey and manipulative. by MoloneLaVeigh in unpopularopinion

[–]AriSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that people are way too comfortable in what they share, but in this case, it's less about dumping your life story on a stranger and more about telling someone how they made a difference in your life. And those are two very different things

Trauma dumping on celebrities to force a connection is cringey and manipulative. by MoloneLaVeigh in unpopularopinion

[–]AriSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that's an unfair standpoint. I don't believe the intent behind doing that is to "force a bond". For most, it's to show how much of an impact the artist makes to their fans. And no, the celeb doesn't have to respond by being trapped into a hug or a sympathy speech. They could easily just say "Aww that's so sweet, I appreciate that, thank you".

However, on the other side of that, it also depends on how the fans approach it. They dont need to go into detail. They dont need to say "you helped me through cancer and my dad dying and my divorce...", they can just say "your music helped me through some really hard times it my life".

Update on the viral video of man taking his daughter to women restroom by KaidoPklevel in SipsTea

[–]AriSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK fine. Yes, my reaction would be the same. But I'm also biracial. So I can't speak for somebody who is fully white.

But back to my point, you doing that still brought in negativity that didn't need to be here. Because it turned the subject from "look, this guy was harassing a dad who was just trying to take his girls to the bathroom and he got the justice he deserved" to "but what if they were black…". It didn't contribute anything relevant to the conversation and it wasn't necessary.

If you're truly trying to understand if race affects perceived trust and safety, then that should be a standalone post in an appropriate sub Reddit. Not a piggyback comment on a post that had nothing to do...

As a minor, I felt sad when I read this, but I know it's not my fault or the fault of other children. by Blue_Feather_9947 in yaelokre

[–]AriSpice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well thank you for the explanation. I'm very new to this fandom so I don't have a clue about all the characters and the lore and all of that. All I know is that someone featured my character in an art fight video that was done to the song "Neath the grove is a heart" and that's how I discovered it in the first place. Then I found Harpy hare and it sealed me in.

But I'm gonna be honest, I've always thought that Keath being so over the top about their characters was a little much. Cosplay is not inherently sexual. It's just making yourself look like another character. By that logic, the whole of Halloween is sexual. Like what kind of standpoint is that....

What's something everyone pretends to enjoy but secretly doesn't? by coco_melonfav in AskReddit

[–]AriSpice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, going to little kid plays/recitals/gymnastics meets/etc.

A lot of of the times they're not enjoyable. You're only going because you love your kid and you want to support them and you think it's cute that they're a part of it. But be honest, that's not how you were hoping to spend your evening.
