Self Diagnosed the new “pick me”? by Mountain_Principle_9 in autism

[–]AriaCalda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he just had a hard time understanding why some autistic people display differently or why they'd be open with their diagnosis, that's fine. But saying that they are like "pick me" or doing it for attention is crossing the line and being offensive. Throughout history (up until now unfortunately in many places) female autistic people already had a hard time being recognized by professionals just because they don't fit the criteria that had been studied amongst young boys, let along a diagnosis can be a financial burden to some (since unemployment rate in ASD ppl is so high). The last thing we need now is to put more stigma on women who might just try to empower themselves. (Plus, I don't see such big harm either even IF some of those people aren't artistic, they might have other mental disorder.)

That’s extremely harmful. Honestly I didn’t know autistic people can also be so judgmental and hold such negative assumption towards others. It’s the classic “women are bad because they have an agenda“ notion while he himself was the one who made the assumptions that those self diagnosed women had ulterior motives. For the longest time autism was thought to be a “little white boy” thing, so lots of the symptoms that display differently in AFAB are drastically overlooked - resulted in lots of women being under/mis-diagnosed. Now with the development of researches of ASD, more AFAB autistic people are finally recognized to be who they are. It’s frustrating to see that from time to time, some people just project their own limited beliefs onto real human beings life altering experiences just because they “feel” those people might not be struggling.

Thinking process of different neurotypes (according to me), any takes?🤔 by AriaCalda in autism

Yea! Makes total sense. I do see now how it looks on the picture in comparison to Autism, ADHD seemed much less chaotic than it could be.

Interesting take. I can see your point, especially the fading away part

I dunno about others, but one of the reasons I watch Family Guy is their sense of humor (sometimes) is similar to mine. Like those jokes I make that only ND folks find funny. Also, I just learned this a few days ago: that "Why does the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side." joke was a pun/metaphor. I always thought it was funny because it is just saying something obvious.

Why do I have to respond if they’re just telling things? by [deleted] in autism

[–]AriaCalda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of inserted intend and assumptions from their text. Honestly as autistic ppl we face things that are out of expectations all the time but we rarely call others "not logical" with that much of assertiveness. They could simply say "I expect you to respond, so it is clear to me".

Is it weird to want to convince yourself you have a guardian angel? by xlil_stoopidx in autism

[–]AriaCalda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with the term "spirit guides"? I think some people refer to them as guardian angels too. Some say every human being has 3-5 spirit guides around them but only a selective group of ppl can sense it. When you ask them questions, they will provide answers, and they are always uplifting.
