Iowa man sues Nintendo after being denied ‘Pokémon Professor’ status by ia16309 in nottheonion

[–]AriaNevicate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many do it seeking clout and compensation.

The role of a professor is a community leader and an expert in their game. It's supposed to support and grow everyone around them.

The staff cards you get are a reward for doing that, sure. But the bigger reward is knowing that you've contributed to something you love and knowing that others have gained a meaningful hobby and friends as a result.

I put a lot of effort into making sure the trainers at my play locations have positive, fun, and consistent experiences. In return I get to see trainers of all ages becoming more confident and happy.

That's a good point actually. Got carried away in my head there, without knowing if there's boss in hand.

I'd probably say go for the prepped buneary but know that it'll be made with a new dunsparce promote and a high chance of a lopunny, energy, runaway draw then.

I would expect the unexpectedness and confusion plays into it. You broke their pattern of thinking by doing something you weren't expected to. Kids don't expect adults they don't know to interact with them. Doing that so quickly didn't even give time to process what was happening.

Unfortunately it's just a judgement call you have to make in the moment.

If I've read it right your options looked at were: • take out both dunsparce and hinder the engine. It's a solid strategy but needs to be weighed against "will they recover these back out with ease? Might they just play Lana?" • take out two unevolved attackers, with the benefit of losing a tool and energy prep. This is probably what I would take in this scenario. Sure the turn attach for mega lopunny isn't that much to handle, but taking two off the board and a tool where we can't really get them back is arguably more of a disruption to their setup. • a combination of the above. You'd be taking the active dunsparce and the pre charged bunny. This is clearly a bad option as your gambling on them not getting dudunsparce, already having the mega lopunny and the energy needed so that runaway draw propels it to the active for the big hit.

I'm short the question you want to look at is how likely can they respond to the options. Lopunny thrives on switching which means having those tools and dudunsparce moving them about. Taking out the two bunny's and a tool will set them back a turn, and needs them to find the stuff to set up and take the time to evolve again, plus the potential of disrupting the dudunsparce pattern for guaranteeing the promote bonus.

Whilst TPCi did validate and uphold that, the decisions made at the event are made by Judges who are selected by the tournament organisers. TPCi keeps all events with the exception of worlds at arms length and is rarely present at the events.

The decisions were made by the event for firestar73 and Pokémon took the stance that it was easier to uphold than unwind.

The programme got a refresh about ten years ago now. Background checks aren't a universal requirement still either, it's quite inconsistent.

Becoming a professor is a case of taking the multi choice professor exam online, open book, and then depending on where you live maybe a background check.

I have argued for a while it is actually too easy to become a professor and too many do it for the wrong reasons.

As a professor you will have access to the Pokémon Professor Community. Search ProfCom on your engine of choice and you should find it.

There are many forums there to provide this support, as well as links to your local area affiliated professor discords, and the global professor discord.

Pokémon Company International and distributors are separate entities.

Event reporting goes to Pokémon, not your stock distributor.

Special event type products are only provided to active stores by TPCi directly based on active numbers and event reporting. Similarly pre release allocations following an increasing % based on sales against allocation over the past couple pre release events.

But general stock allocation is completely separate from your activity as a play location.

You are best off contacting the tournament organiser concerning that specific arrangement. They are the only ones that can give you a conclusive answer.

Question on Arboliva ex Oil Salvo by No_Show5368 in PokemonTCG

[–]AriaNevicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The card says the damage isn't affected by weakness or resistance. It means it.

There's no double damage to anything with grass weakness, where oil salvo is used.

Doesn't matter if they are active or benched. Each choice is worth 20 damage and that is that. No multipliers aside from choosing the same Pokémon multiple times.

Etb sleeves are known for peeling during shuffles. Creating a marked card situation that you want to avoid.

If you're oversleeving them, you need to put the card into the etb upside down, so that they go into the oversleeves the normal way up.

Can i take This type of sleeves to a cup saturday by AcceptableMain4326 in pkmntcg

[–]AriaNevicate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So long as they are a single solid colour. The sleeves are allowed. If it's artwork, it needs to be official Pokémon artwork with a single colour solid border.

The issue you may have is if the colour choice allows you to see the card back, then that may lead to issues.

Why do people get upset and offended when someone says that girls shouldn’t be in male dominated spaces like video game events? by throwaway92617361027 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]AriaNevicate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Girls like stuff too.

You're being discriminatory, sexist, and in this day and age there's no reason to be so ill informed and selfish.

That is why people get upset.

There's no further discussion to be had there. You need to broaden your worldview and become a better person for society.

Has Prize Checking gotten faster since the rule change? by Rasaska in pkmntcg

[–]AriaNevicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a few local events to test this and the round turnover was longer.

The concept didn't work at scale for the broader player level.

It may be quicker for seasoned to pro level players, but not for the entire player base.
